Do you ever worry that people in general find you boring?

that they would rather pretend that they have something urgant to do, or pretend they are asleep...

i hope its not just me

Sometimes when I have nothing to say and it makes them feel awkward.

Mostly when they accidentally get me going on one of my obsessions.

Yes. I talk very little unless someone asks me something. So instead I am criticised for being too quiet. Sure, I'd prefer to hit the right social notes every time, but life doesn't come with sheet music.

No. Can't say that I do.

But I never rant about my obsessions in depth unless I know whoever I'm talking to is seriously interested. I guess I did that a lot when I was a kid though. Now, I tend to keep a low profile when I have the misfortune of being in a social situation with people I have nothing in common with. So what if they think I'm boring? It's mutual.

That's just the way it goes.

It used to worry me when I was younger. Everyone wanted to talk about football, TV stars or the latest music band but I never found this interesting. Similarly when I tried to talk about metaphysics or other "weird stuff" my school friends got bored quick. It was also something of a problem when I dated in my teens / twenties as a typical girl of that age doesn't like small talk about subatomic particles Nowadays it isn't a problem. I don't "need" to talk to anyone about anything any more, so only talk "boring stuff" to those who are really interested. Though there are times when my wife literally falls asleep while I'm talking to her about some interesting scientific news I've just read on PhysOrg.

worry? They do find me boring. And they tell me. But over time i've gotten better at knowing when it's best not to talk and when to use simple sentences.

Yes, all the time. I worry I have absolutely no sense of humor and no interesting hobbies.

I do worry about it. I only have so much that I like to talk about, and I have a bit of a difficult time going along with someone else's topics. People who take the time to get to know me tell me that I do have a lot to offer. The problem is that initially I don't seem very interesting, and not many people will invest time with someone like that. It seems to be the people who are intrigued by my different-ness that take the time to like me.

So I know that I'm not completely boring, but I just appear that way.

no one would call Specter boring xD crazy perhaps, eccentric, definitely. But never boring :D

Not at all; I'm one of the most lively people in most of my classes. I always have something to say, and no one has ever called me boring. I'm much more known for my energy and being a non-stop chatterbox

Yes, I worry about that all the time. I especially worry that they're too busy to care about my mundane life.
