I normally take far longer than most to make decisions, but occasionally I'll just want to do something without thinking about it much at all. Is this unusual?

I live close to a holiday park and today as I neared the cabaret lounge, I had an urge to walk right in, even though you need a pass to get in, I thought I might have been able to get in without it.

I didn't do it because the person who I was with wanted to go home.

I can't make sense of why I'll occasionally want to act on impulse because most of the time I'm exactly the opposite.

Yea, I'm the same. Normally everything I plan out, but it seems every time I'm impulsive, it goes bad, so i try not to be. I once decided at 1 in the morning we would go and visit my BF's mum out in cali. Didn't work out well, I had a breakdown out there... didn't know anyone, I went with his family for dinner so I didn't even have my car... not good.

I have to syop myself from grabbing money, counting it out, and giving myself and them the correct amount that was discussed.

Hmmm... getting the idea to go to Florida because you saw a picture of a palm tree at 11:00am on a random Tuesday morning, then telling your boss you have to leave and take a few vacation days for an emergency.....then driving to the airport, spending $1500 on a last minute flight to Orlando to "surprise" your friend who you haven't seen for a year.....realizing you have no luggage so you decide when you get there to buy all new clothes, shoes, bags and toiletries ($4000 worth).......does that count as impulsive?

Okay that's manic impulsiveness. I also have random impulsivness that isn't related to mania....I have a bad habit of blurting stuff out...usually without thinking and this constantly gets me in trouble...I have a defective brain to mouth filter. I also am very prone to interrupting people when they are talking.....including but not limited to my manager, director and the VP of R&D....this doesn't go over well. I have to literally bite my tongue at meetings so I don't say anything that gets me in trouble. I'm sometimes expected to lie at work to other departments, marketing, even our VP....and I usually don't know I'm supposed to lie about something, and I have a bad habit of letting the truth come out when I'm not supposed to......I don't think obtaining the ability to speak at age five was actually a good thing........

If I ever am, it's only just a little bit. But I have had my moments though.

This is interesting, so it's not just me then.
I'd wondered if I had a bit of ADHD thrown in but it's a normal Aspie thing then, cool.

I go on long, unplanned drives at a moment's notice, often delay plans and then change them, and just get up and go in the morning... I'm not HUGELY impulsive, but it's taken a toll on my wallet. Now I've gotten everything under financial control, though :)

Yes. Sometimes it works out (road trip to Key West) sometimes it doesn't (made out with married guy).

I'm not usually impulsive. Generally I give things a lot of thought and sometimes procrastinate.

Although when I am impulsive I most likely get myself into trouble.
Once I enrolled in medical school on impulse. It was rediculous as I didn't even complete high school but for some reason, thought that I would actually get an interview.

I often act on impulse. The most common comment on my elementary school reports are that I must definitely control my impatience and my impulsive actions.
My father was extremely impulsive and I also have the symptoms of ADHD, it's only natural.

But yes, I talked to a professional who said that people with ASDs can have issues with impulse-control too. At least that's what they said.

I usually plan everything out very carefully but occasionally act very impulsively, so buy something that I don't really need or want - it just catches my eye at the time - like a house in France!! ! Then live to regret not looking more closely before parting with my money :(
