Yestarday my husband wanted to surprise me and take me out so he decided to come to my work. As I was waiting to drive out of the pakring area he apparently was sitting right infront of me honking his horn (8 times) and waving his arms and I did not see him. He said it seemed like I was looking through him. This happens a lot with me, I don't hear the bell telling me I left the lights on in the car, I don't relise people are calling me, I walk infront of people and cut them off. What is going on? Am I just not mentally aware? I feel like I am not aware of things unless my attention is directly focused on whatever it may be. Otherwise I don't see anything, or hear anything...........anyone else have this problem?

Your husband sounds a bit too volatile for my liking... turning up at work honking his horn 8 times! He shouldn't do that. Your boss might take affront. I would be well pissed off if a partner did that to me. As for the invisible thing, well, you just had a hard day at work. You are looking for your car. You are not looking for your partner. It is like when you see someone out of place. You recognise their face, but because they aren't in their normal environment you cannot place them.

He should have honked once or twice and then got out of the car and met you. If it was a SUPRISE then he should still have met you rather than honking at you. You honk at people you are picking up, not people you want to make feel special.

I'm like that a lot. It was really bad last year, almost got hit by cars and had people pulling me off the road. I've gotten better now, but it was terrible when I was little.

Yes, I've had the experience too, and it is just like when that happens.
