Currently I am really around so few people...and the people I actually am around are quite similar to me.
it has been so long since I have been around people I am different from, that it is really hard to say how it is that i am different from them.
All I have current contact with are my few AS-ish male friends and my As-ish family.
I can't really put my finger on the ways I am different from other people outside that circle...The difference does exist...I just can't articulate it.

I'm more severely honest with myself, maybe out of necessity, and am less willing to compromise if I'm aware it involves self-deception, since I've learned I don't do myself any favors that way. I'm "ergonomic," in essence.

I’m extremely un-spontaneous in my manner and in my speech. I need to focus and think before I can speak or act. This isolates me from everyone around me because others don’t tolerate delays. People in general seem shallow and impulsive to me. I am much more observant and intuitive than others.

Wonderful contributions so far!! !

Posperson, I used to be the king is nude kind of person too. Not anymore. Nowadays I take very much care to help everyone mist their mirrors, and lie through my teeth. If that's what they want, and it gets me less rejected, then so be it.

I don't feel respect for anyone who begs to mist their mirrors, so I don't feel respect for most people.

Tahiti, that's my problem too. Well said.

I'd kill to know what the heck I'm doing wrong. :(

Oh my gosh, I couldn't have said it better myself.

Except I have a slight clue what it is I've done wrong, but they are things that I know I can never change. :(

GT: Unfortunately I think I'll go to my grave saying 'the emperor is naked', it seems hard wired or something.

Yes, it's hard wired and in many cases impossible to realize beforehand that you're about to say it. I fail at hiding it many times, and I guess many more times that I don't realize. Nowadays I hardly speak for that reason. And I'm over vigilant.

I'd love to be mute! It'd save me so much trouble.

I'm extremely analytical, of myself and others, which scares a lot of people once they know me well. I get extremely annoyed at people who are so self-unaware that they don't realize they're hurting themselves or others, and am always surprised that, despite my lack of social abilities, I can still understand some people better than "normal" people do with enough analysis.

I remember certain things like events in my life, dreams, things involving finger memory (like the exact places of keys on a computer keyboard, piano pieces by feel even without a piano, and phone numbers based on the keypad) and dates extremely vividly, but have no memory for matching up names and faces, or remembering long lists of tasks given to me at one time. The former can impress people, but, as with the last quality, it can scare them, too. The latter annoys and offends many people.

Though I CAN restrain myself, I do have the tendency to point out problems, inconsistencies and things that bother me when talking to people, and in fact would much rather have an animated argument than talk about banal things that other people seem to enjoy. It's especially true with authority figures, not so much with peers. Not so much anymore, but this used to get me seen as being a know-it-all, combative and uncooperative.

And of course, sensory issues. Rather extreme ones. Most of the ones that get me in trouble are my noise, light and touch sensitivities. Especially when I'm not allowed any of the things that will calm me down or lessen the effects of being in pain or overloaded, this can be very problematic socially. People don't make much effort to understand usually, either.

You just told the story of my life. I wanted to quote the whole thing, but it annoys me when people do that (spam). The NTs try to define me by their terms and pitiful understandings, and they get it wrong every time. They don't understand me because they don't understand themselves.

In the mind of the typical NT: My economic situation, my status, my safety, my very life, depends on the existence of that fancy set of threads. I Would rather kill my own child than look at the naked emperor.

I'm different enough that I've learned to keep my mouth shut most of the time.

I am quite the opposite of UnusualSuspect, I can’t keep my mouth shut, especially when I see that something doesn’t make sense or when someone does something that doesn‘t seem ‘right‘. I tend to point those things out to whoever may be around. That same habit has earned me the title of negative among family members.

I don’t see myself as negative. I see myself as being realistic in my views of other people.

Bingo. Can you say, "pro-active?"
How can you hope to solve a problem when you don't know what it is?

yeah, it's an extremely dangerous thing the 'emperor is naked' observation. People will kill you rather than have their illusions about themselves exposed. I don't know that they allow autistic people the same privelege, my flaws and faults were always pointed out for public ridicule, still are. Perhaps that's why I see it as 'normal' to expose others failings, that's how I've always been treated.

I say what I mean and mean what I say. I will never tell you what you want to hear only what you need to hear. I have absolutely no use for superficial crap like pro sports, binge drinking or any other number of NT bonding rituals. My boss is completely baffled by me. Finally I just told him to take everything I say at face value. Don't even bother to look for any hidden meanings or subtle nuances in my communications because there aren't any. It is a real struggle for him to do this because he is very NT but the communication is much clearer with less misunderstandings.
