Relating to Children

I've wondered how other aspies relate to children. I have three nephews and I always find them fascinating to be with, but I don't know how to respond to them. My partner knows how to deal with kids and is a natural. Me? Not so much. It's not that I don't like them, but I am always stumped on how to deal with beings that don't seem as logical as I want them to be.
try finding and doing things with the children that "they" enjoy, what I do with my son is I take him out to pick the toys that catch his interest, then out of the many of those I choose a couple thats the most educational and developmental and buy them, then go home and we play/share them together, let them lead, do that and the children will love you for it and they and you will start to relate more and more as time goes by.
I can get on quite well with kids, I dont like how my brother and sister deal with them, I feel like they either treat them as if they are older (little kids dont need to know certain things) or they kind of bribe them to like them. I prefer just to see what they are like with asking questions and purposly makeing false statements, they do seem to like me, and they are easy to conect to, but I do have a problem with kids not letting me get away. Like trying to convince a little girl to let me go get some pavlova, and I couldnt come up with any way of getting some.
