how can you say that? those people annoy me the most with there superfriendly slow talking and suddenly a whole other character, i rather pick a brutal character above a over-the-limit-friendly guy/girl who don't know what there saying (but then again some drunk people have the same effect with worse other effects) so it sort of depends
I dunno, drink and drugs do different things to different people. That's a kind of obvious statement to throw in but it's drastic enough to keep the generalisations I see here from making much sense. I have a friend who just turns really paranoid when he smokes marijuana, though for that reason he usually keeps away from the stuff.
them, both of them (most expecialy when its you're family) i try to
avoid users if it as much as i can. They really make me sick...
(i like to drink alcohol to but never been drunk i also only drunk it like 3
times a year, probably will never happen again sinds it contains gluten)
Anyway i'm talking about wen you're sober yourself.
I don't hate them but I think that lifestyle is foolish. For instance I do not understand social drinking if you need to drink to have fun then I don't think you were having fun in the first place. I avoid them in relationship partners some friends and acquaitances of mine get drunk/high alot I just let em know how I feel about it and when they hit rock bottom (they always do I've never encountered someone who doesn't drink to get drunk or doesn't end up getting drunk 75% of the time) I help them out of it. Everyone of them was like no I'm fine its all cool then when they spiral out of control I help them as much as I can and they realize what they were.

I read. I have heard cases about drunks doing things they aren't aware of and have no memory of it when they be sober. Not all drunks gets into trouble I know that. I'm just saying when they do drink and decide to get drunk, they are willing to take risks and must be responsible for it. Heck I have heard about parents beating their kids because they were so drunk. It happened to someone in my hometown in Montana. My 7th grade English teacher told us that story about one of her students coming to class with a bloody nose and bruises because her mother beat her that morning because she was drunk. I never knew the student because it happened before we moved there. The teacher just decided to bring up the past for some reason and I don't remember why.

I don't hate high/drunken people. I hate people who get high/drunk. I'm thoroughly disgusted with those who do this on a basis as to destroy everything around them (job/home/family). I think the law should have a more aggressive stance with alcoholics and addicts when it comes to children being in the same home. Children should not have to put up with foolishness like this.
I get mildly annoyed with an inebriated friend, and actually pity them when I have to help them walk.
I drink myself, two beers a night is my limit, sometimes three. For me, I want to try every brew made, and I've a friend to split a six pack over three days with, so as to not have to go through 6 beers by myself if I happen to hate the beer.
The feeling I get when I drink is something similar to "clarity." I know this is most likely an illusion, but it seems like extraneous things are eliminated in a way that allows me to think better, more focused.
And like you, UndercoverAlien, I've been thoroughly wasted thrice (maybe 4 times) in my life, and I refuse to go through the process again. It's absolute foolishness. I vowed not to drink in my life after seeing parents f-ck up their lives (and in the process mine and my bro's), but it turns out I've a pretty weak will... Not anymore.

Sad to see I disgust yet another complete stranger.
Y'know, not all of us who drink on a regular basis end up destroying our jobs/homes/families.
I didn't specifically mention you, now did I?
As I mentioned later, I do drink regularly, as does a friend of mine. He gets inebriated to the point of needing help walking at times. Do I hate him? Of course not.
Now, if you got drunk (actually drunk, as I specified, not the regular drinking, but the smashed type) constantly, I would not hate you, as I don't have any contact with you, and find it hard to hate a name and a habit that doesn't have any affect on my life. If you were a complete flaming drunk, I'd not hate you, as I don't know you still.
Perhaps I should specify that I hate people who choose to destroy their lives, that are in my immediate vicinity, and pick alcohol/drugs consumed in copious quantities as their weapon of choice?
In that case, I'm pretty limited in my expression of hate and who it's directed to. Really only two people qualified in my life-my parents.

My dad was a loud bullying drunk, I do not like to be around drunk people - however I would not say I hate them. My husband has been know to get drunk on the odd occasion and as long as he sits quietly and keeps away from me, I guess I don't mind too much.
Nocturnal Quilter, People were expressing their opinions when asked, I didn't get the impression they were turning their noses up you.
People can do what the want with their lives, their choice, but when their choice impacts negatively on others, such as young children, that is a concern.
I have a wine every night with my meal and I also like to drink when I go out, but I don't hurt people when I drink and I am usually the driver so I am careful not to drink too much.
I hate the state of drunkeness, and I lack respect and trust for people who get habitually, purposefully drunk. If they're stupid enough to brag about it, I have absolutely no use for them and would be inclined to discount everythhing they say. Potheads are merely flaky and benignly unmotivated.
