Autistic Artists Group- Please participate
Group description:
It is my hope that this group will become a nation-wide not-for-profit collective of autistic artists, working together to create and promote our artistic creations while accepting and using our differences to make great art & to help NT (neuro-typical) people understand what it feels like, sounds like, is like, to experience the world so completely differently to the norm.
This group is open to anyone, with any of the autistic spectrum disorders, who considers themself an artist. It is also open to any other kinds of artists who are interested in supporting this group and helping to make it's goals realities.

Who owns the copyrights to the artwork once it has been submitted?
Who receives what portion of the procedes from any sale of said artwork?
How can a contributor be guaranteed that his/her submission will be presented in the same context in which it was conceived, or at least in an appropriate context?

1. The artist holds all rights
2. The artist gets all proceeds (this is a not-for-profit endeavor, if you sell, cool, and if you dont, thats cool too. I'm hoping to get as much as I can in terms of donations-fod for events, locals, advertising, etc. Tho obviously if the artist sells for a ton, hopefully they will donate a portion to make future events possible.)
3. hmm. I dont know. I guess it would depend on what kinds of guarentees you are looking for?
I am trying to make an event that includes ONLY the work of autistic people & presenting it in such a way that the public would
1. be educated about autism
2. able to appreciate great art. That said, obviously not all submitted works may be included and none of the work would be used in any way shape or form without the artists express written permission. I guess there would have to be certain level of trust. But what I really want is to be able to say to any artist whose work is chosen, to come here, bring your work & together decide where/how it goes.
Then again, if that is still not enough, or if you're interested in helping out but are not an artist, it would be really cool if fliers could be made in distributed in your area so that other autistic people can choose wether or not they would like to participate, since it would be really cool to make this a truely "nation-wide" or even continent-wide series of events and have as large a group of participants as possible.
eh, I am inconsiably good humored and enthusiastic. Plus, I've done this before, just in a different context, so I already know more or less what to, so long as I can find other people willing to participate.
Hmm, it would be cool to make an art book of stories/poems/experimental pieces, etc.
I dont have any problems with it being a long-distance (:D) submission, I just thought it might be easier to start locally. But definitely, if you have any stories or photographs that fit the basic premise for the first show (sexuality: your understanding of, confusions, etc.) definitely you can email it to me.
I plan to keep posting this same thing periodically until mid april so hopefully more people submit work...

Sounds like a really great idea! Speaking of sounds, since I have always wanted to be a Deejay/Radio Personality, and I have a TON of background music CD's, I would LOVE to come and provide the event with some background, ambience music. Since I have my own CD's, I would provide my own music and sound gear. Just to let you know, I am also an accomplished singer and Keyboard player, as well as an aspiring Worship Leader.
By the event submission deadline, I hope to have the manuscript for my first-ever, published book submitted to a publisher (which will basically be a Biography of my life, as seen through the eyes and experiences of an Aspie.)
While I'm thinking about the event, have you thought about making the event formal and elegant? If the event is going to be held in an art gallery, why not make it a formal, black tie event, replete with a social hour, a "silent" auction and a formal, catered, sit-down dinner?
Dinner would then be followed by a comedy show (featuring none other than Josh Blue, who himself is "Austistic," and has been featured on "Last Comic Standing",) results of the silent auction would be shared and then dessert would be served to all of the guests.
Let me know what you think of my ideas. If I can be of any further assistance to you in terms of event planning, let me know.
msinglynx,
am sorry for having to ask this-have not understood a lot.
when say artist,
do mean someone pro/who shows their work off in galleries,or sells it,or can it mean someone who does art as a hobby, but may or may not show it online?
are CG art and photography accepted? these are the main forms am do.
also,if joined the group,do users show their work there on the group as well,or is it only for submission to the shows?

You can post your art on the page if you want (tho I suggest that you dont if it's CG, with photos at least you can prove the original was yours.)
I mean any person who considers themSELF an artist. Sometimes what is popular is not necesarily that great, tho it may sell, mean while people who dont have much experience may not get a chance, so, I mean anyone and everyone who is interested in participating who is also autistic. (obviously it may not be possible to show every piece, but it is important to try
