I've been labeled naive and I'm not happy about it. It must be so wonderful to be able to catch all the signals, understand all the little things. Be nice to everyone and you are going to suffer for it.
I don't think everyone on the spectrum is nice. I am, though.
People with ASD don't control their own destinies. Other people take charge. That's just how it goes. And that's how it's going to be until people can safely disclose their disability at work.
I thought my life was my own. I thought I was in charge of my own decisions and my own future. I'm not. It's in my parents' hands. I'm disabled and people who are not, like to dig in, and manipulate me. That's really unfortunate.

'Sometimes'.
Even as a child, I'm either very naive or very cynical.

I've been told naïve is a good thing but I disagree. While my parents may have found it cute, others may not think so.

Plus my naivety has gotten me into trouble before and it's open to being a target for trolls and bullies and open to being scammed and being tricked into bad activities and then it's too late when you realize. Now you are on the naughty list and guilty.

Autists tend to be naturally trusting and honest, initially.
We are often taken advantage of, as can be seen anecdotally here on this website.
We are perfect targets for sociopaths/psychopaths.

Trust *no one*. 8)

NT society is generally toxic to us.
Sorry to be brutally honest. 8)

If this was true of me once it was a long time ago. I'm bad at reading people so I approach all interactions with a natural suspicion.

I work at maintaining an active cynical mindset, these days.
(I got stung, recently, when I let my guard down. 8O)
I seriously believe those on the spectrum need to do this, so some degree. 8)

Check you out, the Autist Wizard now eh?

In all seriousness Pepe is correct, we are often used by people, especially if we have really good skills at certain stuff they will play on our kindness and try to lie about literally every single little thing just so they have you in their grasp. Really, do not trust anyone easily.

My narcissist of an ex used me for getting thousands of social media followers of all things as an example.

Hence your vitriol about him, in another thread?

Not all NTs are sociopathic/psychopathic, of course,
But many can act like it, given the opportunity in various contexts.
*ALWAYS* count your fingers, after you shake hands with an NT in a commercial arrangement. 8)

This has *ALWAYS* been the case. Some were simply too ignorant to appreciate it. 8)

Not all NTs are bad no of course not, you can get psychopath autistics. Everyone is different. But I agree they can have certain traits here and there.

And nope, I have encountered off the top of my head about 12 narcissists in some major aspect of my life. It's a curse.

I can't remember that somebody ever had called me that. I don't catch all signals but I'm not naive as well. Some people thought this because of my unusual style but some also had to learn the opposite.

Of course not.
I get on very well with cyberdad.
You do know he is "one of those", <whisper: NTs> right? 8O
I gather your husband is an NT, also.

Teach51 is an NT too, and she wants me bad the way you do. :P

I like NT bashing,
But it is against the baddie NTs,
Not all. 8)

All the time. I'm learning to be more careful about who I trust to combat this.
