A friend emailed this a while back, had a bit of a laugh over the fact that people would actually put this commercial on tv, in all its hideousness, and now I just want to see what you guys think of it... Pick it apart to the point that the thread-ravens won't have anything left for them.

I don't like it. It's very scary and strange.

Nothing wrong with it. Sounded like awareness to me by showing they are just like anyone else and they are people too and can live normal lives.

Before "retarded" was an offensive word.

I hate how people have misused that word and made into something completely different from what it used to be.

I find nothing wrong with how it is used in the commercial, however.

The man in that commercial looks almost exactly like a boy with Down's Syndrome I used to go to school with. He was the sweetest kid ever; I played frisbee with him at lunch.

I think its probably meant well,but is kinda offensive...the real nasty people who need their brains reprogrammed with a blunt instrument would just laugh or ignore it.
There may be a few people to whom it makes a difference, how they feel,after seeing it,but then,they would be nice to start with....I'll give it a B-,for trying a bit lol

It's pretty dated, but it's certainly no more offensive than the other modern campaigns about various disabilities (intellectual and non-intellectual).

I've noticed how "retarded" has turned into a bad word.
I don't think it was a bad word when I was a kid.


What if people started using "autistic" as an offense, would that become a bad word too?
