Do aspies have a lack of creativity? Can they only do the things which they have seen before or solve the known problems for which they have prepared?

Programming is my favorite hobby. I'd like to think that a certain level of creativity is needed for that...

i can understand what u guys r talking about.I can draw cartoons. But its always about character and also they are of certain types. What I do is to blend my previous experience and draw it in a different way.In summary I use experience for drawing not creativity. When i try to draw new type of cartoons of which I havent seen any example I cant draw a good one.

Is this only about me that I am a low functioning aspie or that its true for others also??

I think I'm creative... I like to write, to play with words... I have new ideas when people need to solve a problem... I have what I call "my inside life" and there I can imagine everything...

But what's hard for me is to try writing stories because I feel unable to create characters with personality and that I'm too perfectionist.

I feel like I am creative, and so are many others, but there is a difference between creativity and originality. It's very hard to make something truly original, usually you have to take inspiration from another source, but as long as it's a different interpretation and not just a copy, it's still creative.

Uh yeah I kind of do. I used to write stories when I was little that my parents and teachers seemed to think was awesome for a child of my age... I don't know where that went but these days I am not very 'inventive' but I love to create! I can draw anything as long as the picture is in front of me. I really like my drawings but I don't consider them to be artistic because it's only ripping off someone else's art. I wish I could create things from my brain but my mind seems to be too transient for that.. the things that I see aren't clear or stable enough for me to duplicate them before they are gone.
