the part that really bugs is when one of the parents says "she almost like an object at home rather than another person" I know shes upset but still, that's a pretty mean thing to say

Suprisingly one of the proudest moments of my dad's life was at one of my IEP meetings. So I don't think they are universally painful but 5 hours sounds really long.
