Suffocating SN child

On a message board I came across this very disturbing, sicko, that routinely suffocates his special needs child with a plastic bag and calls it therapy. I am guessing because people there didn't believe him, he took a video doing it and posted it on youtube. Drop by the video and let this guy know what you think!! !! !! Hopefully before he kills his son!! !! Is this something that happens all the time to sn children? I am trying to understand why someone would do this?

I listened to the beginning, where the father is talking about how important "masking" is to preventing seizures and increasing lung capacity.. and then I just couldn't watch him do it to his child.

What if he screws up and the child dies?

I couldn't leave a comment since I couldn't watch the whole video.

What he shows when he puts the mask on is very disturbing, he only did it for something like 6 breaths, you can easily see the plasitc being sucked in, but for a kid with a diminished lung capacity, that could kill him. At the very least the kid would have inhaled enough co2 from rebreathing it that it would feel like someone gave him a narcotic, and would kill off tons of brain cells in the process.
Yeah, the video isnt for a person with a weak stomach!!

I posted something like: "How exactly is this not supposed to kill him?"

Why is no one else commenting about this on YouTube. The man appears to be sick. He is using some treatment that is very dubious.

I got his attention about the matter, and he seems to just be very misguided. I know it is still disturbing, but he actually thinks this is helping his child. So all I can do is give him proper information on the effects of what he is doing.

It seems that some parents get to the point they will try just about anything with there kid, then since they are so desprite for something to help them, they git the idea in there head that what they are doing is actually helping there child. I think this happens all the time, not to that extreme, but when parents put there kid threw tons of treatment that doesnt do any help, but the parent thinks they are seeing all these major improvements, when the reality is, the problem is there mind playing tricks on them.

Masking just looks a load of crap...people desperate enough to try anything...it isnt fair on the boy to use him for experimentation.

I just cant believe it, but the message board this guy posted on, TWO more parents posted that they do the same thing with there children, thinking this is theraputic!! !! ! They said they use plastic sandwitch bags ! !! !! !

I looked it up, and you are right Kingdom, this was all started by The Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential.
You should see how they treat autistics, I believe this is the same place that was using electric shock on autistics and killed the one autistic boy with it!!
They dont let kids there use any epilepsy medicine, there preferd treatment for epilepsy is the suffocation

To be honest - I certainly don't think the guy doing it is at all evil, he seems to have the best of intentions for his son. Seems fairly useless but harmless - the only real effect is hypnotic.

Nah, what needs to be done is for someone to engage him diplomatically. Being confrontational here is pointless and is going to achieve nothing.

Actually I did engage him diplomatically, just wanted people to see the video and hopfully it gets taken down, so no other parent sees this and tries it.
You are right, the guy isnt doing it to be evil, he actually thinks it is helping, just like when they used to give people a lobotomy, they wernt doing it to be evil, they thought they where helping, they would lose a few here and there.....
There are two ways a person can be killed from this, suffocation would be a big one, and breathing back in to much of your exhaled co2. The side effect of to much co2 in the blood stream is death.

I can see why this is so controversial, it seems that some people dont understand what is going on and think it is harmless. The ones that know how breathing works, think it is very wrong.
