Any runners on WP?
Are there any members on WP who love to run besides me?
I think running is fun, especially distance(1+ mile races). People call me crazy for enjoying running but I know that I'm not the only distance runner out there. Running helps me cope with a lot of stress and depression issues. I'd love to see if here are any fello WP members who find running enjoyable.
I'm trying my best to run but I'm not a very strong runner because of a number of things:
Recent knee injury, somewhat flat footed, exercise induced asthma, and morton's foot.
I've got the ideal running weight/shape but on the track, I'm slower than people twice my size
I'm still under the impression that if I work hard for the next year or two, I'll be able to run a marathon at a decent pace and also be able to get a 20ish minute 5k.
I'm going to build an aerobic base for the next 3 months. Start off with rucking 45 lbs, then move to slow jogging 4-6 days a week, and then try to incorporate other things like biking/swimming.

I've recently started to enjoy running. I play soccer and basketball, so I kind of have to get used to running. It took quitting the freshman basketball team (from my coach being mean) to get me to want to run. I don't do it everyday like I anticipate to do, but I do it whenever I can
I used to run a lot, then got out of it for a while. I'm in the process of starting up again, though, and just went jogging yesterday for the first time in a long time. The middle of winter, when it's about 25 degrees Fahrenheit isn't really the best time to be outside running, but it was important to me to give it a try again. I was hit by a drunk driver a few months ago and have been dealing with a variety of musculoskeletal problems since, so getting to the point where I can run again is definitely a good thing I should be thankful for.

I'd like to get into it, but the doctor says NO. I can do fast-paced walking, which works fine for me, but running is too painful and damaging to the knees. I have a really bad left knee, and the right one will go bad right away with any running or jogging; the doctor said.

Just started to get into running this summer. Really love doing it when the weather is great. Although I've been an avid biker for years.

I enjoy running from time to time, about one year ago I ran maybe 4-6 times/week almost, got really good times and I could run quite easily in decent speed for 7 miles. Then I got so sick of running and quit. Or I catch a cold and never start running again. Now I'm about to begin again, I'm currently very very slow, but it's all a process of building my strength back up again.
I also have to fight with myself to go out for a run, I've gotten so lazy it's incredibly weird. I always curse myself when I'm running but I feel so proud when I get back.
I also miss that I can't call myself a runner anymore. I feel like I lost a part of me.
I occasionally run but can't run more than a mile so I usually speed walk.
The hot and humid climate of the American south make running more difficult especially in the summer.
When I was in school I used to run competitively but almost always came in last place.
I am not a very fast runner but I still enjoy it sometimes.

I more jog than run, but quite long distances. Usually in excess of 8 miles. I enjoy it but my parents loathe is since I insist on only going after 10 PM and before 6 AM. It can be any time between there that I'll be going running. Usually 4 AM. I hate people watching me run/jog.
Occasionally I will sprint for a 100 metres or so during the jog, but for the most part I do keep a steady pace. Only really when I'm reaching some sort of mile stone where I can take a break do I sprint for the most part. Feels great when I do though. Since I've started running on concrete rather than on the treadmill or tracks I've developed better calf muscles that seem to allow me to sprint faster and greater distances.
I'm getting back into it.
I've got 9 months to figure out how to get from 2 miles in 16 minutes to a 3:30 marathon, because that's what time a friend of mine is trying to get.
longest i've ever run was probably 13 miles.
most i've ever done regularly was 5-7 miles three times a week, a mile of which was on sand, while carrying other stupid s**t, like bags of sand, logs, other people... (don't ask)

I'm not fast. At my best, I could go an average of 5mph for about four miles. Now I only go for three, but I can regain that speed quickly by doing it at least once a week for a couple of weeks, even if I've been away from it for a few months. I think this is because I've been doing 4-6 mile hikes on one or two days of the weekend since fall, including with hills. Also, I swim in the summer, walk the dog year-round, and do other exercises that push me aerobically.
I prefer to run in the fall and spring, when the temperature is best, though I've also done it in winter and even early in the morning for part of the summer. My bicycling seasons are even shorter. I don't deal with extremes of temperature well.
I run for my mood and for other health benefits. Exercise - its planning and execution - has become an area of interest to me, so I also need it just to be satisfied. I have my rotating routines, and they help keep my head together. It takes most of my energy for the day, because I have fibromyalgia. But I need my exercise, so I push myself and then just deal with the consequences of the energy consumption. I take liquid B12 to make it possible. Before I had that, I was just sinking into increasing lethargy. I also strength train to displace fibromyalgia pain. It works reasonably decently - better than anything the doctor could prescribe. I can still get unpredictable pain flare-ups and bouts of debilitating fatigue, but at least I'm more with it in between, now that I get up and moving more often.
What I do may not seem like much to others who work out, but, to me, it's as though I've climbed a mountain. I began taking the B12 when I was 38, and, in spite of some setbacks along the way, I've refused to let go since!
