Crushing on a guy shouldn't cause hot flashes, should it?

I have been suspecting for a while that I might be dealing with some sort of hormonal imbalance. I suspected it when my chest size over the course of a (definitely post-pubescent) year from a DD cup to a GG cup without any net weight gain overall. I went to the doctor, she gave me a quick prolactin (I think) test that came back normal. Well, now I'm back to my old suspicions. I've had a crush on a guy for a while, and there's been a lot of other stuff to put my attention on romance. However, my head has been incessantly mocking me over my crush on this guy, even though I have had crushes on guys before (never this intense, but still. If anything, that only makes me more suspicious), and when I decided to do nothing about it, my head was able to move on. And I was in a lot closer contact with those guys than this one. I figured, well, maybe I just have a bunch of emotional issues to work out.

But I caught myself having hot flashes today. I do not care how hot a guy is (and this one, objectively speaking, isn't - I'm far more attracted to him emotionally than sexually), crushing on one should not cause hot flashes, certainly not when he's nowhere nearby. I have had hot flashes before, so I know what they're like (and I'm in my mid-twenties, so I'm not menopausal). Before, the hot flashes were caused by a panic attack from side effects due to switching my meds. What finally convinced me to seek medical help that time was when I caught myself seriously considering walking in front of a subway train on my way to work. I am sure as hell not waiting till that point this time.

I now suspect that I have a hormonal issue, and my brain, being the obsessive, redundant creature it is, is simply seizing on the crush as the thing to stress out about over. And over. And over again, due to all the weird romance-related junk that's going on in my life right now. I am very strongly considering scheduling another doctor's appointment (The only reason I have any hesitation is that they still insist I owe them $500 that I do NOT, and I'm still looking for a full-time job and couldn't really afford to pay it if I did owe it. That and I was just there last week on a completely unrelated matter that was completely out of my hands, and I'd feel really silly going back so soon) at this time to ask for a double-check on the hormone levels, but I wanted feedback from other people, just to make absolutely sure that I'm not being a hypochondriac.

you've probably already heard or discovered the several obvious things so I guess I'll assume you've ruled them out.

My apologies but I'm going to have to say something I almost never get to say:
I dunno.

sorry to waste your time =/

as condolences at least someone was listening to you =)

edited to add:
I doubt you're imagining it though.

I'm a guy so this may be something different than what your going through but I've had hot flashes & other weird physical things as well as mental stuff when I was heavily crushing on a celeb I had a mega huge crush obsession on. I quit crushing when I got a girlfriend. I do love my girl but I'm not super obsessed with her because I'm on a medication for OCD. I don't have the hot flashes or other weird symptoms either. Perhaps it's a crush because there's something about him your really attracted to & some kind of OCD like thing is tapping into it because it likes the feeling of crushing which can be kind of like a drug.

Another theory I have is that perhaps it could be related to women's monthly stuff which of coarse could be a hormone thing. If your on any kind of hormonal birth-control it should be considered by the doc. If your not but have weird things going on with monthly stuff taking some kind of hormone birth-control thing might help regulate it & help with the crushing.

When I crush on someone and see them (or think I see them) I get what feels like "hot flashes".. My stomach butterflies, my face blushes, my heart races, my breathing quickens.. I get hot and uncomfortable. LOL So yes, your hot flashes could just be about your crush.

Your hot flushes could be hormonal, too, and nothing to do with a guy. You may want to speak with your doctor again and explain to him what's really happening to your body - how often - and if there's any antecedents.
