actually from what I read they are only detrimental to your health if you let the plastic get hot or reuse the container


If that were true, you would still have no idea how hot the container had gotten on its way to the shop shelf.

Have you considered buying a clay filter? If you can't find one, they are easy enough to make or have someone make at any ceramics place. They make water taste better than mineral water, and all you gotta do is wash the thing once a week.
