Past couple days, I've been hocking up lung oysters that have been streaked with blood.

Should I be worried?

STREAKED WITH BLOOD IS not abnormal.

gross frank blood, i.e a large clot of blood, in the absence of phlegm is unusual. when i say large i mean something larger than the size of a UK 10 p coin.

it's probably nothing too serious, i wouldn't worry about it too much but keep an eye on it. if it gets worse or persists for a long enough time to worry you, think about seeing a doc about it. give it a few days, if it starts getting better, don't worry about it.

I'd tell your doctor about the bloody lung oysters ASAP if I were you.

Nice turn of phrase, btw. :eew:

It's certainly not a good sign.

Keep an eye on it but I wouldn't panic too much yet.

Try and get hold of some manuka honey in the meantime, have it either with lemon juice and hot water or just eat it as it is. It's great for soothing sore throats and coughs, and it's also a really strong antibacterial (as in, hospitals are now using it to fight MRSA!) so it can help infections.

This is probably more of a concern if you smoke, bloody phlegm is only really something to worry about when there's more blood than phelgm.

Also if you hock them up, don't, as you may be causing tears in your trachea or oesophagus with the force, hence the blood.
