Who are your favourite composers?

A poll, choose your favourite from the list. I did miss a lot of composers, I have kind of a blind spot where the Chopin type sit. And I ran out of options, had to delete some of the best.

My favorite is Edvard Grieg, though he's not on the poll.
I also like Camille Saint-Saëns, but he's not there either.

Out of those I'm not sure, I'd have to give it some thought.

None of the above. Debussy, Britten, and Barber. In that order.

I had Saint-Seans, Grieg and Debussy, but I had to remove them (too many poll options)

I welcome any thread that discusses classical music. I played piano and violin when I was young. Recently I studied opera. Richard Strauss wrote some good German opera.

Shostakovich.

I chose JS Bach. As an organist, my interest here is not only in the great man himself but also the influences upon him (like Buxtehude), related contemporaries (like Johann Gottfried Walther), pupils (like Krebs), and other Bach survivalists (like Josef Seger).

This "Inner Bach" to "Greater Bach" interest is, in turn, part of a general interest in the Baroque period.

My other major musical preferences include Mahler, the English Pastoral movement (eg Vaughan Williams), and Neoclassicism (eg mid-period Stravinsky, like Pulcinella or Dumbarton Oaks)

There are more composers and more genres I like. I like to listen to techno for example, but also Tchaikovsky, The Beatles, Queen, Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Bizet, Madonna... if you know what I mean.

My favorite composer on that list would probably be Tchaikovsky. I love his music for Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker.

Jack Murphy, Clint Mansell, and John Williams. Of the list, probably either Chopin or Tchaikovsky.

Does anyone know about the Second Viennese School....Berg and Schoenberg, etc.?

I ask for two reasons. I'm a big Glenn Gould fan and besides Bach he really liked the moderns. Also, they wrote some operas I haven't yet seen.
