I do not have a particular favorite, but I do have a bent towards liking the 20th Century composers. I particularly like Adams, Bloch, Debussy, Franck, Golijov, Kancheli, Ligeti, Mahler, Messiaen, Part, Rautavaara, Ravel, Schnittke, Shostakovich, Takemitsu, Tan Dun, Tavener, Villa-Lobos, Weill, Xenakis and Zimmermann.

Hard, hard choice to make. I cast my vote for Gustav Mahler, but I could almost toss a coin to choose between him and Jean Sibelius.

He makes really good compositions. One of my favourites. Anyway, I chose Tchaikovsky. Very nice music, sometimes with a folkloristic touch. Reminds me a bit of Antonin Dvorak who's also a great composer (but wasn't on the list).

Mahler's my favorite by far. He's also the only composer with which I have actually listened to all known compositions in full (of course, it's not like he has 1200 like some other composers so it isn't as hard lol). Doesn't get much better than his second symphony!

That said, Tchaikovsky and Beethoven also deserve honorable mention as second/third on my list.
