I'm an aspie and I love Lady Gaga. She revolves her career around standing out and being herself. I also admire her outreach to the LGBT community through works such as speaking at rallies for the repeal of "Dont Ask, Don't Tell" and writing self-affirming songs for LGBT youth.

This 'art' that we are seeing now seems to mirror exactly what filth the Germans had to put up with during the 20's when the Country was falling to pieces with smut peddlers presenting prostitutes having sex with Donkys as 'art'. Then just like the Western World now it needs to be completely rebuilt, as for the Gaga character? She needs a good hosing down.

How is Lady Gaga's music filthy? While there may be some sexual undertones in some of her songs, they're not blatant like most rap music these days. Her songs seem tastefully composed to me.

I love Gaga and her music. Not only is she a truly talented musician, like Descartes mentioned, she continually spreads the much-needed message that we need gay equality in America and that it's okay to be a "freak" or "weird." I've seen her in concert twice, and both times were simply amazing. I love that she's not afraid to dress outlandishly. Yes, part of it is because she loves attention, but the other part of it really is that she doesn't care what people think about her. She just wants to be herself, and she's telling young people to do the same. As someone who was "outcast, bullied, [and] teased" due to "life's disabilities," I think it's a great message.

She doesn't bother me only because I think she knows she is, for lack of a better word, a clown. I don't mean that offensively, but the meat dress, the egg thing... she's like a real life cartoon character. I'd be more disturbed if she thought herself a legitimate artist... like, say, Kesha, or Britney Spears. They scare me.

But no, I am not a fan. I'd much rather see a regular person with amazing talent than a circus act with a moderate range.

My brother who according to social circles is known as a 'scene kid,' i.e one who follows what is popular in the mainstream, always listens to Lady GaGa and thanks to his incessant playing and singing of her songs I really can't enjoy or even listen to her music.

Her songs started off sounding distinctive but I've noticed they've become more and more interchangable with all the other manufactured music. Her costume wearing, flamboyance and attempts to learn to speak 'Queens English' is annoying.

I hardly find her original, the problem with her is she is just an off-shoot of Madonna who in her own right is not very original. That doesn't mean that they don't have merit for selling as many records they have metaphorically gotten away with murder and the victim is societies integrity.

Though Madonna and Lady Gaga descend from a long lineage of underground theater mostly from the 1960's such as Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Rocky Horror Picture Show. With the showmanship of Queen, New York Dolls, David Bowie, Michael Jackson, Grace Jones, Grace Slick, Roxy Music, and Velvet Underground and wearing costumes just as flamboyant to boot. Copying that doesn't equate to much what makes the two unique is that they stretch it into something quite explicit and out of bounds. They do this for whatever form of publicity good or bad as long as they stay relevant is their philosophy to achieving success.

She's an entertainer, but she's not a musician. She has great stage presence so she can hypnotize alot of people. Unfortunately there are those that think she's a great musician, but one should never mix musical ability with showmanship.

I agree in many cases call her an actress, maybe she could let a lot of her energy out on film shes eccentric enough. Musicianship is completely different bands like Rush, and Twisted Sister have absolutely no one with any acting ability especially when their passion steams from commentary about the working class and not putting on a persona like you do in acting. Lady Gaga's music is not biographical or commentary based she in plays herself as an actress. Pop-Musicians in many cases do have a thespian element in their songs. Traditional musicians convey there emotions through a fictitious character/alias but from their heart and experiences.

I think she's mostly popular amongst homosexuals & mainstream pop culture. Most of my friends; excluding some users on WP; really dislike her

Exactly. They're also not about S&M like the new one from Rihanna (not that I have a problem with it or anything, people can say what the hell they want in their music).

Can't stand Lady Gag.

Fake sci-fi combined with a vulgar obsession with celebrity and fame.

That's not true. She is a musician and she got her start writing and producing songs for other pop artists. However, she's still plastic. She knows her music theory but uses it for evil rather than good. There's art that liberates and then there's art that enslaves...she's a slaver.

I guess it depends on what your definition of "musician." The concrete definition would be someone who knows music theory. The more abstract definition is someone who knows how to apply music theory in a way that conveys an auditory aesthetic quality. Anyone can put a chord progression together to sell albums, but that doesn't make you a musician. That just means you have charisma and good stage presence.

Your abstract definition is bullshit and an insult to the many classical musicians I know who are performers who have advanced knowledge of music theory. Writing music doesn't make you a musician, playing music does. Taste is somewhat harder to account for but I go back to Mr Hicks and "PLAY FROM YOUR f*****g HEART!!"

I'm a big fan of Cobain and punk and the more...edgy/dangerous side of music. Lady Gaga is an insult to that. Music isn't supposed to be perfect in execution. It's the flaws that really add one's signature. Think Nirvana would have sounded as good if all of Kurt's singing was pitch-perfect and he hit every single note? There's art in noise...there's a soul there. There's no soul in the computer like how these people rely on it and rely on empty vessel performers to play all the written notes perfectly.

I'm not gonna lie when I say I loved Lady Gaga's music but I HATE I mean really hate how mainstream she has become (and it's mostly for her wardrobe than her songs). I was able to appreciate her music for many a few months before that Glee episode aired and it kinda turned me off. I was a fan of techno/house/trance music because of how un-mainstream it was but Lady Gaga is pretty much wrecking it getting more fame for what she wears than her actual music. I dunno if I can listen to her music anymore. Probably her less popular songs I can still listen to.

I know it's weird but that is how I am.
