For all of us writers out there, what are some of your favorite lines you've written?

A few of mine from Post Black:

The opening sentence: "Having to hurl yourself through a plate glass window really slows down a lot of your momentum, especially when you’re running from sys-sec."

"We all fear being forgotten by time and by other people. The best way we know how to prevent that is to leave behind the legacy of a family. Future generations who will go on to tell your stories long after you've left all this behind. Positive or negative, it doesn't really matter in the long run, just as long as there's still someone out there to remember who you were."

Most of the things I'm proud I said are the things people later demand I apologize for. :P

My favorite line just might be in the form of this cartoon sketch I drew —> http://fatal-noogie.deviantart.com/art/ ... -252131358
(I would post the image here but that would get a little distracting.)

People with Aspie and Autism miss many puzzle pieces, the greatest of which is what some might call "social normalcy".

There are so many...I'm a bit egotistical when it comes to my writing. For now, I think I'll share this one...

"The Devil teaches compassion while god speaks of damnation."

It's not a line from a poem or story... it's a stand-alone that came to me one day 10 years ago while I was recovering from attempted suicide.

On Politics and Economics

Quote:
With this idea of job maximization, a politician may look a power turbine and declare; "What a stupid machine! Why do we have a power turbine do the work which could easily employ a million people running on giant hamster wheels for the rest of their lives?"

From Fate's Horizon
Quote:
It was more than a demonic cancer, it was the burden of watching her family lose everything in the fight to save her. Her family buried themselves under an impossible debt, and despite all their love and effort it seemed they were going to have to bury her too.

From a short story "The Greatest Discovery Unknown to Man"
Quote:
"Bill Banners is a very pathetic man, he eats cheesy poofs with his cheesy fingers while watching cheesy action movies.

But there is something bizzarly important about Bill.

Contrary to popular belief, Einstien was a moron, things aren't relative to everything else, the fact of the matter is the whole universe revolves around a single point.

Sitting in that point is a man by the name of Bill Banners.

Bill is the reason the universe exists, he is the culmination of millions upon billions upon trillions of millenia. One day Bill was hit and killed by an oncoming bus. Needless to say the universe was pretty upset. But the lives of many insignificant peons goes on.

A few lines from a poem that I wrote when I didnt know that I had Aspergers (a few months ago) and was going through a really hard time understanding who I am.

"For every time I try to resist, escape from the shackles
A momentary hope does surface, lighting a bleak flame
Only to burn out before I even feel its warmth
And slap me hard right across the face
Bringing me back once again to where I was that nameless face"

On the subject of cities and night:

Quote:
Clouds hung heavy like fire over the city as dusk submitted to night. The lights of many thousands of people lit the overhung sky with headlights and street lights, the neon blur of countless takeaways, the strobing of innumerate night clubs. True night never touches a city, only a cheep parady.

Under the electric twilight, Nathalie strode the buzzing streets. Chilly Monday night in March it may have been, but without night a city cannot sleep, and this near the city hart all was alive with cat calls and skin and spilt alcohol, and she slipped unnoticed into the crowd, just another young woman looking for pleasure. The long coat snapped at peoples legs as she passed, curling round cotton, denim, nylon, flesh. She aloud herself a few appraising looks, a few coy smiles and winks – no harm in a little indulgence after all – but never stopped, never slowed, no looking back. Business time.

On the subject of manchester pride:
Quote:
It looks like a giant clown's ejaculated all over canal st.

It really does!

Forgot another from Post Black: "Whoever said life is short was an idiot; it's the longest thing you'll ever do. But I knew what they meant."

I have so many. This one comes to mind at the moment.

The past roars, a current of untangled thread,
Twists around my arms, my neck,
Tie-dyed, stained with life giving red.

-from the poem 'Awake'.

Thanks.

And I just realized I forgot another one from the same scene as that and the one with "We all fear..."

"Yeah, you know; kids. They drive you bat-fuck insane, but you still can't help but think they're the greatest thing that's ever happened to you?”

I'd have to flip through my notebooks, but in my current story, I had one of my characters compare having an autistic meltdown to being caught masturbating.
