match.com/dating site interest
I've had a match.com profile for a while now without much success so was checking my profile for possible improvements, when I spotted a counter that told me how many views I'd had - 755! Not too bad, I thought, until right below it, I spotted the 'winks' counter - 7. Combining this with the number of emails I've recieved (without me instigating) through the site - 2 - it makes for a poor attraction rate of less than 2% of visitors. I have pics on my profile so can be seen before viewing so must be putting them off with something within my profile, I just don't know what - I hate writing about myself in that way!
So, does anyone else have such woefully low stats for match or any other site?
I would advice speeddate.com, thats how I met my love.
Below is the information I got from the Speeddate - About Us
SpeedDate’s™ patented system allows singles to meet each other through 3-minute online speed dates.
Unlike other online dating options, SpeedDate.com™ allows singles to immediately determine if they have chemistry before taking the time to meet in person. SpeedDate™ works because you get a much better sense of your connection to another person when your first meeting is a live interaction.
Good Luck.

Eh? 2% is better than 0%
Generally guys are the ones that do the chase work. You may have a perfectly normal hit rate.
I don't think OKcupid has a convenient stat counter like that, or I'd let you know.
Did you get back to any of your winky visitors?

Your experience is not unusual. it's a jungle in there. The average guy is going to have a tough time on these sites and many of of them give up.
You need to be more pro active and contact the women you are interested in. Most of these women will not respond but it only takes one. It's a numbers game, hang in there, be bold and don't internalize the rejection.

Most either weren't my type or just completely unattractive to me (I need at least some attraction), I did respond to one and we went out a few times but that didn't go anywhere and was a while ago, I actually posted in here about it! I've not had any in a while but I'd not visited the site for over a month whilst I had no PC access - I've just returned this week!

I'm not really taking this as rejection, I'm just trying to ensure my profile's as good as it can be - I'm not too good at doing them really! I'll keep that in mind in regards to messages sent though!
It was about the same for me a few years ago. The site I went on shows you who's viewed you (although there is an option to stop people seeing if you viewed them). I'm back on the site, and just the same as before, my hit rate is probably 2 views a months (or more) from people whose profiles I haven't vuewed. In the past, I would get, on average, one reply for every 7-8 women I contacted.
This is true. I find most girls who go on these sites (up to the age of about 25) aren't my type. I might have to scan through about 50 profiles (using advanced search to filter out those too old/young, etc) to find one I like. I find they are easier to talk to as they approach age 30. Regardless, a success rate of 2% is still 1/50. The success rate on winning £10 on the lottery is ~1/125000.

2% is pretty normal, particularly with how gender and initiating contact work in general. When you think about it - people who have anything in common with you, shared values, etc. - that's actually not too far from what it comes down to quite often.
I'm on Eharmony and will get contacts or winks once or twice a week, the only downside - I've probably innitiated maybe five contacts in two years (that's really how few profile's I've seen that I had to talk to), few of any of those did reply, and even with the girls who contact me and have things in common - chemistry for whatever reason wasn't there.
I'd say the only big mistake you're making, aside from maybe not contacting your winks or emails, is perhaps not doing what 755 people did which is browse around and find out which girls actually catch your interest to send them mail? Everyone's there for a purpose and if she isn't interested - good news, most people have a 1/10 success rate or less, those who don't are too attractive or smooth for their own good and end up in their own world of hurt.
