“Meant to” implies intent at the point of design. I also don’t believe that making such a statement about a group with characteristics as varied as people with AS is correct.

RightGalaxy hit it, it is wrong to generalize.

I've met AS people who like being with people and those who genuinely do not. Those who need relationships and those who genuinely do not. Even among all the possible relationships in the world, there are ones we are meant to have, and ones we are not. And even among the ones we are meant to have, there is an element of time and place (for example, if I'd met my husband when we were 20, we would not have gotten together; we weren't ready).

There is no "people with AS are not meant to X" for anything, much less relationships.

Yesterday i attended an aspergers suppourt group and someone with AS said to me "People with aspegers are not meant to have relationships"............... maybe that is just him speaking from his personal experience but would you say there might be some truth in what he says?

I agree with most of the other posters who say that this statement is wrong. AS makes things more difficult, but not impossible. In my case, I'm 49 and I still hope to find someone. I have finally realized that it is going to take work and that I need some help, but I still think that I will find someone, someday.
