My gut feelings tell me that she mistook you for a male, but now of course she's gonna deny this :p.

Nah, I like the one to one contact with online friends.

It's just the drama queen crap teenage females post on there that I'm not fond of.

female what? elephants?
If you're talking about human beings which yes, "females" are...the word you're looking for it girls or women

guys have no less capacity for drama nonsense and ignorance

Female elephants, yes.

Hahhahahaha....good one Monkey! +100 Cool Points for you.

Btw, DogsWithoutHorses, in case you don't know, Monkey is a female human too, surely she didn't mean anything sexist about the term "females" , I use the terms "females" and "males" all the time when i am talking about attraction stuff with no sexist intention or anti-female hidden agenda - what? I am sensing a change in your tone already after knowing the Monkey' sgender.

I've talked to her before. I also misgendered her once and apologized. But her gender is kinda irrelevant to my point. I correct this every time I see it.
Gender issues aren't a war with men vs. women. A lot of women have internalized misogyny. (which I didn't accuse her specifically of, I'd actually peg her as having "only girl" syndrome but I see a very limited cross section of her posts)
Intent isn't magic. It's dehumanizing language no matter how it's being used (75% of the time someone uses the word that way, they're saying something less than enlightened) and it just bugs me because it's incorrect while also often being an attempt to sound smarter.
It's just as much a love for correct language and respect for nuance in written expression that makes this bug me as it is the association with the worst parts of reddit.

The above post confuses me.

I don't personally see using the term female as trying to sound smarter, it was the first word that came to my head when posting.
And what is only girl syndrome?

I hear it's quite a rare syndrome. Only 1 girl has it.

I gathered that much. :P

I looked it up anyway, and I must say I'm flattered.

Seriously, you should stop picking up on these stuff.

I am a male, you are a female.

You are a female, I am a male.

and both of us are smart enough to realize that we're both humans.

:wtg:

I still don't know whether to laugh or facepalm when I see peoples' dumbass assumptions on here. Some folks knickers are so twisted the elastic must have snapped by now.

All that waffle and you're accusing her of 'an attempt to sound smarter'....

So, if 75% of the use of the dreaded word f-f-f-f-females is dehumanizing and 'less than enlightened' (and by the way, who tested that in the first place, and when? Just so I know the source from where that apparent statistic came from. And whoever might have carried out such a meaningless experiment seriously needs to find a more worthwhile thing to research) then what about the other 25%? That percentage of the use of the word (dare I say it?) 'females' must therefore be at least at a level of 'enlightenment' according to you.... So, in other words. What's wrong with saying, typing or mentioning that word, and why should that quarter of all uses of the word 'females' be prejudged to instantly be seen as negative?

I'm thinking you got a bit uptight there for no reason, didn't you.

Seriously who writes these things??

I find it hard to take ANY advice seriously from someone who can't spell "you're".

Still... Twisted, sick and manipulative. Shame on her.

You don't know the context of this quote. There are many situations where this is appropriate. First, "fight" is not literally throw down behind the bar, it's more akein to "put in effort."

I've seen many girls in relationships where the guy became complaisant, disinterested, and generally not being a good boyfriend so she began to doubt the relationship.

She left; he realized what he lost, and changed his ways. The motivator was her leaving.

I've also seen girls poor their heart and sole into a guy; and he wouldn't return much, so they finally took this advice and never heard from the guy again. He was just using her.

In both cases, letting him go was the thing that changed. It's not bad advice at all in these situations.
