so I wonder what people think here.

what is a decent job?

what is considered own place? does this mean live alone, or just not live at parents place still. what about people who rent a place with family equally is that considered different then renting a place with friends or strangers?

Own place really means living independently of parents, while decent job means any job you like that pays the rent.

I don't know what others mean by it in a dating context, but to me "own place" would mean a house or apartment you don't share with anyone else. Other people may only enter it when you say so. Others might consider a shared house to be an "own place", too.

A "decent job" is much more subjective. Apart from providing enough income to afford a "decent lifestyle" (whatever that means to each individual), it might mean "stable" or even"ethical". For example, I would not consider a car salesman to have a "decent" job and would be very unlikely to date one.

(Come to think of it, I don't think I've seen a female car salesman (err... saleswoman?), actually... But I knew one who sold industrial machinery and she made a killing, because the customers were all male they were all over her. And she wasn't even attractive... neither physically nor personality-wise.)
