Be interested to know if anyone else feels like this (haven't included sensory overload and dislike of small talk, etc):

1. Blush a lot / fear blushing
2. Are afraid of saying the wrong thing
3. Have been ok with one (trusted) person but when someone else joined you were awkward and quiet

or are there other ways it affects you\?

1. Dislike/fear of talking to strangers

2. Dislike answering phones when I don't who it is.

3. Extreme difficulty with talking about sensitive subjects/confrontations

4. General fear of talking to women I fancy.

It doesn't. I don't have social anxiety.

NEVER speak to anyone in school, unless they're my friends or a teacher

Don't ask for help

Don't like small talk

Don't want to say the wrong thing

Hate ordering food

Don't like answering phone, unless I know the person

Don't like doing presentations

People will think I'm weird or not like me

HATE HAVING TO WORK IN GROUPS WITH PEOPLE I DON'T LIKE!! ! (lucky me, I have to alot)

But it's different online. I can speak up. That's why I'm here. Thanks to WP! :)

1) Hate, hate, HATE the phone. It's ok for touching base with my husband or good friends (not so much for conversation), and I have learned, through lots of hard work, to be able to handle routine things like calling a credit card company, etc, largely through putting together an (often written) outline of what conversation needs to happen, and how they're likely to respond to things.

2) I frequently will be practically mute when out and about. This used to puzzle my husband; I think he still doesn't understand it, but he's used to it.

3) I don't laugh much in large groups, unless I'm tipsy. Not so much out of an unwillingness to laugh, but because it's hard to find things funny when you're as nervous as a cat with kittens.

I'm sure there's more, but these are what come to mind right away.

I have trouble accessing health care services - communication differences often lead NT service providers to not want to help me more often just get abused and denied services.

Starting to believe that NT's just want to see us all die.

1. Not being comfortable talking in the presence of strangers; ie, I think everyone around me is listening to, watching and evaluating me; and thus I feel inhibited in what I say. So I can't express myself in the way I want to - sometimes my mind would go blank completely;
2. Negative thoughts/negatively self conscious; eg, if I spoke/socialised with someone I met, sometime later I will scrutinise everything I said, and look for something to blame myself for if things didn't conform to my perceived expectations of others;
3. Avoid talking to strangers for fear of the above;
4. Drinking alcohol or contemplating its use as a way of dealing with the anxiety (to give you an idea of this, at times I would seriously consider drinking alcohol before a class where there was interaction involved);
5. I will have a desire to leave in any situation that involves me socialising in the presence of strangers. This overlaps with point 1. Usually I will avoid this altogether by not even talking to people in the first place;

It seems when I feel anxious in social situations, other people sometimes get snotty and judgmental.

1. I always have the feeling I have nothing useful/interesting to say. To make matters worse, that's usually true. NTs tend to think I'm weird and maybe a little crazy.

2. I'm kind of terrified of women. I really want a girlfriend and there were a few women who have shown interest in the last few years (the most recent one is smoking hot and very nice, I must say), but I can't bring myself to talk to them. See number 1.

3. Like many others here, I hate phones. I don't know why, but I would do anything to avoid answering calls from strangers.

Most of the things listed sound like me except I don't really talking to strangers online most of the time. WP is the exception since people are generally nice on here.

1) I constantly fear that people dont like me, dont care for me, or just plain dont wanna hangout with me

2) I fear going up to people unless I have a specific reason to. If I approach them just cause i want to talk to them, they might think thats weird and wonder why I wanted to talk to them.

3) I often times have trouble saying peoples names and I dont know why. I think theres more of a fear there as opposed to social deficientcy.

4) I dont like leaving voicemails cause I sound like an idiot.

5) Talking to authority is sometimes intimidating cause I come across as an idiot

6) I hate doing presentations because all eyes are on me and Im afraid that I look like a (then again) idiot.
