I'm coming of a 7 month writing dry spell. I need some off-the-wall ideas. I will really write about anything. Also, AIM me if you want to talk.

Have you ever heard of object writing? It's an exercise I used to do when I did songwriting. You might find it useful. Basically, you pick an object, any object, and start writing about it for a 10-minute period. The key is to use sense-bound language. For example, if your object is a coffee mug, don't write, "The mug is on the counter." Write, "The chipped blue mug sat on the counter, taunting me with the steaming liquid that makes my heart race," or something like that. You basically just brainstorm using the object as a springboard to other ideas. If you do it every day before you do any other writing it might inspire something later.

I hope that helps.

There is really no point of writing if you have nothing interesting to say. If you search your own experiences and discover something unusual and worthwhile and useful you probably will be able to write about it.

I've had this idea kicking around in my head for a couple years.

Ok, time travel is invented. It's actually easy to do, but what all those guys forget is that the universe is in motion With combined velocities of the world, planets, stars, and galaxies, a 5-minute trip takes you to when, but you're way out in space somewhere.

Someone creates a 'belt and suspenders' (overly protective) time machine, and figures this out. He only goes into low-Earth orbit, but radios back, and suddenly people realize that you can do interstellar travel; you just have to figure out the combined velocities and vectors, and you can travel back (there), and forward (to where you started).

If you want to try it, be my guest.
