I might be going to England!! ! YAY!! !! !! !
I'm going there to see my boyfriend just-you. I still have a few things to do to make this trip possible but if all goes well ill be flying across the pond!! !!
Haven't seen him in 2 and a half years so were both very excited at the possibly of seeing each other again.
I posted this in this section to ask a few questions to women who live in England.
I need birth control for obvious reasons.....
And I wanted to know if the NHS gives it to people who are not citizens of England?
Or would they give it to him if he asked?
What does it cost and how would I go about getting it when I'm there?
Can I get it here in America and just bring it on the plane with me?
Could I get a RX in America and just have a doctor in England and just fill it ?
Thanks for the help!

Congratulations on your "might" be coming to England. Be sure to come and visit me. Because of your age inserted into this forum, I will assume you have just added 100 years and are 22. If this is correct, you would be eligible for free condoms as you would fall into the 16-25 age range for this. Both you and he (if you are in this range) will be able to get a limited number of condoms between you.
Usually you would have to see a doctor (GP - General Practitioner) before being given the correct pill to take. Usually you would have to have a permanent address before you could have a doctor. Your boyfriend will ONLY be able to get condoms and NOT the pill.
I would recommend seeing a doctor first and see if you can get a bulk amount of pills first and check to see if they are accept in the UK and if you can be allowed to take with you on a plane.
I know you asked for women's response, but I felt mine may be just as valuable.
Your doctor should be able to give you some options and advice
If you have a copy of your proscrition with you can carry what you need on the plane with you and my doctor would give me 6 months of pills at a time when it was on the pill. That babies aren't the only thing you can get some make sure you and he both have a clean bill of health before you do the bedroom bounce. Oh and if your with out a doctor right now check out planed parent hood in you city they'll beable to help you.
"CRD" I'm going to start taking yaz . Do they allow this pill in the UK?
Once I know this pill works for me I was going to see if I can get A 5 month supply at planned parenthood to get A discount. I have heard you can just bring your prescription to planned parent hood and they can fill it for you at a cheaper rate. Is this true?

I don't live in the uk but I have traveled and lived in europe in the past. As long as you have a prescribtion in wrighting you should beable to bring your pills with you in your carry-on bag <never put and meds in your checked bags>. I've never filled any prescriptions at planed parenthood but if you give them a call I'm sure someone there would be happy to help you. I know some drug stores have plans you can get on to get your medcaitions cheeper. I'm luck and my husband is in the US Airforce <why I've lived in europe and have gotten to travel> and as long as they have it in stock I get all my meds for free.

I'm not a woman, but hopefully I can help.
It depends if you need a prescription. You get the meds at a pharmacy. Even in hospitals unless it is directly a part of you stay you go over the pharmacy. NHS prescriptions are completely different from private ones (which could simply be on a slip with a letter head). To get a NHS prescription you have to get it from a doctor that is registered for NHS practice, and you have to register to their NHS clinic. Depending where it is there may be a waiting list to get on. Private will be able to see you one off, same day, but obviously at a price.
It is possible with a prescription to collect drug for a relation (not controlled drug like stimulant, but few ever ask for ID), though it is likely for stuff like this they would expect to see you because they will give you information/advice. Many forms of birth control can be bought without a prescription in places, including the morning after pill (in some towns).
On the NHS £7.20 per item. Private whatever the market value. So check the private is not cheaper.
Yes I would do this, it will save you time and hassle.
It is entirely up to the pharmacy what drugs they sell you providing they are allowed to get those drugs. Many do accept foreign scripts, but you do need the doctor's contact details on the script. You might ring one from the states and ask them, or have your doctor fax them.

It is not automatic, and chances are you will have to go through at process.
I would make sure you have warm clothes to hand even in summer.
Weather into eh UK is actually temperate and it rains on a off. We can have hot summer but it is by no means guaranteed.

Like today it's freakin' freezing. Last week was boiling ...
I had no idea the temps varied that much. How should i pack for a 4 month stay in the summer?
