Are you prone to losing objects? For some reason, I always forget to take things I own or just leave them behind. I have lost several valuable objects (e.g., I once left my laptop and camera in a taxi) because I am preoccupied in my thoughts. It seems that I always need someone to pick up after me or to remind me to do things. However, I am very good at remembering deadlines for papers and work. It is when I deal with objects that I have the problem.

Can anyone relate?

Oh yes, I'm a huge scatterbrain. The most expensive thing I've lost was a $250 mp3 player. :(

I've missed classes because I've lost stuff. I live in an apartment off campus, so I have to take a bus to get to my classes.

I lose little things all the time (like phone and keys) because I'm not paying attention when I put them down. I have lost things that are irreplaceable, I try to just put it out of my mind.

No.. I have a backpack that I keep everything I need in, and if something's not in my pack, (or another Safe Zone like my bedroom) there's like a sticky note in my head that won't let me forget about an item until it's back in my pack. So I pretty much only need to remember one thing! :3
The problem is that some of my friends' houses are also Safe Zones so I sometimes forget stuff there, but I can always get it back.

I can never find anything I need, when I need it. Sometimes with words too.

Yes if I don't put things in a safe spot. I also try and think ahead of time and and get stuff ready so I don't forget things.

Spokane_Girl, I'm the same way. I put all my stuff I need for the next day on the bench by my doorwall. If I don't, there's a good chance that it will become lost; I used to lose stuff daily, until I thought up a nice little routine.

Just this afternoon I was ready to relax and read a book, had it in hand, somehow managed to lose it. Stressed out and searched around for a minute then realized it will show up when I'm not looking for it.

All the time. I'm the most absent-minded person i know. I blame the ADD, but maybe it could just as easily be the AS... Seems pretty common here. I can sometimes forget where i put something as soon as a minute after placing it there... But then sometimes i'll remember a specific detail like that for years. It just depends whether or not i'm thinking about something else at the time i do it, i guess.

Warning:Low memory topic

I use my superior aspie focus to visualize the location of objects I want to keep track of. :P

Sometimes, though, I think the objects are playing hide and seek.

I used to be terrible with this. I've developed little routines to make sure I don't, though. Checking things, mainly. Under seats, on seats, locked doors, pockets.. So that everything is where it should be. OCD-like or not, it's helpful, because I can be scatterbrained at times.
