Do think Autism will ever change?
The medias view that is. Psychiatrist etc. look at it as it's diagnosed in children Oh there's no pill for that and rain Man gets brought up or we have severe cognitive impairment. (On Autism X6 while there were some with AS there were some with classic Autism a 7 year old in diapers for example) I'm not sure if we'll ever get away from the stigma that Autism has attached to it. What are your thoughts?
change is slow when it comes to views of autism... as with everything else the masses do not understand ![]()

There are more and more depictions of AS/HFA in popular media and fiction all the time. I've only seen brief clips from 'Adam', and the character seemed a little stereotyped, but not as exaggerated as Rainman (who was at least sympathetic and likeable, if way too robotic). Now there's the cable movie about Temple Grandin, which should go a long way toward showing the world that people with autism are actually people and not helpless mental gimps.
I think the tide is turning, its just turning very slowly. That's probably a good thing. Any change that occurred too suddenly would only frighten the smaller minds into reactionary behavior. You draw too much attention too quickly and you'll have bullies on every corner looking to beat up the autistic freaks just for being different. I for one see enough of that already.

Maybe it will change for the better, one day, Autism Speaks will cease to exist, and we will all be accepted, as we were born to be.

I just wonder what's the NT public view about Autism Speaks...
Basically, to convince them that they all just follow old stigmas, all we need to is to get a famous celebrity to speak for us, right?
I guess the next stage is to promote conservative radio-shows, where idiots are going to host shows about how Autism is a faked disorder, and shouldn't be cured!
That's probably the best way to do it, I think.
Baron Cohen is studying to whole spectrum thing right now, but still, that's... that's just science.
I'm talking about something better that would save us all time - a mega-celebrity, and than radio shows attacking science, you know, with it's arrogancy! And... it's arrogancy!! ! Now, we just need to stop the research from proving we're right. That is going to CONFUSE the society...
