i would miss the internet mainly.
even though i would not miss people's company, i would miss having someone to talk to occasionally. my girlfriend comes here to stay the night once per week because i can not tolerate any more company than that, but i would miss her after a few weeks.
it would seem pointless to live if i never was able to say another word that would be heard by anyone.
if all the animals disappeared as well, then i would probably go insane, but if all the animals survived, i would be able to adjust if i could survive without humans running the world.
what would i do to survive?
1. i would find a number of diesel generators that can be towed (like the ones they use to light up roadworks at night)
2. get a truck, and tow them to an isolated farm house far away from any other houses. i would do this because the dead bodies in the cities and towns would be a severe health hazard as they decayed. i would get the generators form large road work sites.
3. i would find and dispose of the carcasses at the farm house and hook the a generator up to the power supply for the house.
4. i would go and get a forklift that i can drive onto the back of the truck (via a ramp), and find a factory that has many empty 44 gallon drums and forklift them onto the truck and drive the forklift back onto the truck.
5. i would then go to a hardware store and get a pump.
6. i would go to service stations (gas stations) and pump the diesel from the ground tanks into the 44 gallon drums and take them back to the house.
7. i would go to a hospital and get some bio hazard masks because i would need to venture into towns for a few weeks or even months to get what i need.
8. i would go in the truck to get a refrigerated semi trailer (tractor trailer in US?) , and then i would find a motor bike and put it in the freezer and bring it back to the farm house, then ride the bike to find another refrigerated semi and bring it back and then ride off to get another one so i would have 3 refrigerated containers in total.
9. i would go to a meatworks in a semi ,and forklift as much meat as would fit into 1 refrigerated container (on the back of the semi) and bring it back to the house. i would not need to run the semi's engine back at the house, just the much smaller fridge engine to keep the meat frozen solid at -20 c. then i would ride the bike back to the 1st truck and put the bike on the tray and reclaim the truck and drive back to the farmhouse.
10. i would go back and forth in the remaining 2 unfilled semi's to a fruit and veg market and raid their freezers and bring back another 2 containers worth of fruit and veg. i would also get 2x44 gallon drums of cooking oil.
11. i would go to a library and get all the books that i need to learn to do the things i need to do that i have no idea how to do.
at about this time after 2-3 days, most power stations would have run out of fuel, so the grid electricity would fail.
12 i would return to a hospital (regularly as needed) and refuel their backup generators with diesel, so as to keep their medicines at the required temperature in case i need any.
13. i would go to farming supply places and get seeds for grains and vegetables and fruits.
14 i would get about 6 motorbikes and load them onto the truck and return home and offload them.
15 i would ride to a farm machinery retailer in a motorbike and dump the bike and drive a tractor back home, and use another bike to go and get a harvester and bring it back...etc etc until i have all the machinery i need to do the farming i learned i needed to do with the raided library books.
i think i would survive at that point because i have covered my basic needs for survival.
if there was no rainwater tank, i would go and get one because i would not trust tap water because the purifiers would have failed with no electricity. i may get a whole trucks worth of spring water as well. i would raid grocery stores of all their canned goods.
16. i would go to all the tv studios and forklift my way into the building (if it was locked) and power up their backup generators and find my way to their film vaults and get every TV series and movie i can, and transfer them onto dvd's and i would take them all home.
17 i would go to a large computer games store and take home every game in the shop.
this would stop me going insane with boredom at night.
18. i would start to feed the native animals in my area so they come to my house every day to visit me, and then i would be OK i hope.
19. i would go to all the egg factories i can and set all the chickens free, and i would go to all places that i can where animals depend on humans for their survival and set them free (like zoos and piggeries and pet shops). they may not survive, but at least they will have a chance.
after 8 months, the bio hazard would be largely gone, and i may take some serious risks like going to an airport and starting up a 747 and taking it for a flight for fun (after cleaning the runway of debris) (i think i could fly one because i am very good on my flight simulator, and i have read that if you know how to fly even a pc simulator, you can probably fly the real thing).
but....i would really like to tell someone about it...............
