Ma told everyone around here, and for good reason; people won't think I'm that strange loner who's a step away from abducting their children or shooting up the place. I'm friendly, and people would see it if I could show it. (Who do you think the police would turn to as a suspect if something happened? I know the local police too, so all is well there.)

I don't interact with anyone outside of the 'net (yet), but I'm sure some people will need to know eventually when I move outside of my shell.

i've told my closest friends about it but thats all so far. i'm waiting until i get an official diagnosis before i tell anyone else, simply because I want to have some proof that i'm not making it up. Once i have that then i have no problem telling anyone that cares to know :D

Only my family knows I haven't told anybody else though. I don't even think about even having it anymore and just try to live my life happy.

not open at all. only my mother, one friend, my vet and the disability office at my university know. i sometimes worry that if i told people, they might think that i am fishing for sympathy.

I tell people if they ask. Usually they do ask because I don't talk and eventually they want to know why. Same thing as happens when people want to know why I use a wheelchair, just different condition.

i dont tell anybody in real life unless they specifically ask.

i don't want to use it as an excuse, and i dont want anyone else to do the same either consciously or sub-consciously.

however i do tell people about how it affects me, like i dont really like loud noise, i like being on my own and go for walks etc, and im shy and everybody seems to be okay with that. if people ask why one of these things affects me, especially when it comes to my senses then i just say i, like everybody perceives things differently (a great example i use is my eyesight, and spatial awareness (or lack of it) without my glasses). it prevents what i stated above, prevents misconceptions and they are more likely to understand what im saying and how it affects me (and how they might be able to relate to it) than if i just said i have autism.

I've told a fair number of people. I'm naive still.

If there is a reason to bring it up, I do not hide it.

My 13 year old AS sister tells NOBODY about her AS and I'm not allowed to talk about it in front of her friends or her friends parents.

I don't know how I feel about this yet. I tend to be a little secretive(in some cases - with something really good) or private in general. I've told a few but not everyone in my family and no friends but if it came up, I might tell them depending on who it is.

By and large need to know only - mostly closest friends themselves probably spectral.

But I am still tentatively feeling out a few family - though past experience shows they either are disturbed or deny anything I have ever revealed about myself.

Neither, like any other personal info on my life.

Open in principle. I don't generally volunteer any personal information unless asked (it's not so much that I'm bothered by doing so, I'm inclined to be candid; just that explaining my circumstances would require a long monologue before anything made sense!), and I don't really do small talk and conversation outside the family, so I'm very rarely asked.

Nobody. It's like telling I am retarded and I have low IQ or I'm insane and one day I will come with axe to school.
My roommate can tell I am almost deaf, so you have to speak loud and slowly. Sometimes I'd like to tell I'm autistic, so you have to speak simply and don't care about some things, because I don't make conspiracy against you, really.

Autism is thought insanity.
