I learned English primarily by watching American and British shows as a child. They were always subtitled (and I could read at a young age) so I always got the gist of what they were saying, even if I didn't understand the words they used.
My knowledge of the language improved drastically once I gained access to the internet, of course. Ah, good old dictionary.com, how would I manage without you?

I kinda wish english was still my 2nd language, that way I will have a bit of an accent (which I hope sounds nice) and I would be able to read stuff written in Chinese when I feel like it. I look at a Chinese article and I have little clue what is going on.
