going for psych eval. and am self diagnosed....question

should i tell them up front i want to be tested for AS or should i just let them do their tests and see if they find it themselves? i've taken several self tests that all point to AS. I'm going for an 8-10 hr eval aug 2 FWIW.

Also, has anyone here gone through a psych eval like that? what kinds of things do they do?

They'll probably do a full battery of neuropsychologial testing, inluding things like an IQ test, the Wechsler Memory Scale (which includes language memory, visual memory, tapping blocks, recalling stories), attention testing, problem solving testing, and maybe the MMPI (a personality test). If you request, they may do the ADOS or if you have a family member present, the ADI-R to test for an ASD. The ADOS is really the gold standard of autism testing, so if you want to be tested for AS, I recommend requesting that they do it.

if you tell them that what you think you have they will try their best to NOT give that as a diagnosis. i'd kep it to yourself and just be as honest as possible. if you have AS then you will be diagnosed with it.
