Hi,
I am the Mum of an almost 7yo boy, recently diagnosed with AS.

I saw a program on TV (probably a couple of years back now) about a young man (in his 20s I think) who has AS and has developed a special sports program especially for AS kids. I didn't take much notice at the time, but would love to know if anyone knows of it. It was some sort of business TV show? Can't really remember.

Would love to know the details if anyone knows.

Cheers, Meg

How does having AS affect how you should exercise? It's a social disability not a muscle defect :?

I do realise that, it's more that he won't participate, or keep to the rules in other sports groups, I thought a guy who knew what he is going through as far as sports goes, would develop a program to hold his attention, or channel his excess energy, etc, or more to the point, be tolerant of his quirks a bit more than a NT coach would be.

Ah i see what you mean hmm well i dont know of any program like that :? There is a gym near where i live that has days where the sports equipment is free to play around with and there is no strict rule in which order you use them. it's pretty much a session for free use of the equipment maybe there is somthing like that near you?

Sports require teamwork. It requires following verbal instructions. It requires hand-eye-coordination...

What about swimming or judo - something that's not a team sport.

I gravitated to long distance running, swimming (individual events ONLY) and (solo) cycling before I had even heard of AS.

Great exercise without the 'team' baggage.

It's always been non-team related stuff for me. Running, cycling, karate, etc..
