As an aspie, is it WRONG to be annoyed around someone...

that is if they have quirks you couldn't stand, or are aspies expected to be especially accepting. I would not say anything to them about their quirks, I am just wondering if it is wrong for an Aspie to be annoyed by the quirks of people with mental disabilities (ASD, OCD, ADHD, ADD and bipolar excepted).

I feel that it is wrong to be annoyed, because it's hurtful to be so.

I find humans annoying in general, they don't need to have a specific quirk, aside from breathing.

Talking is particularly irritating, I hate it when they do that. Twits.

Sometimes I wonder what God was thinking when He gave mankind vocal chords. People dont know how to use them properly most of the time.

Some humans are far more annoying than others. Some I even want to hit with a hammer. Of course, those kinds of people most everyone else agrees should be hit with a hammer.

I don't think feeling annoyed is wrong - it's just a feeling. It's how you express it that matters. So if you hurt someone by snapping at them and insulting them because you're annoyed with them, to me that is wrong.

But in terms of feelings, I think it's only natural to be annoyed by others. I feel annoyed by some other people with Aspergers - and sometimes by things they do which I'm perfectly aware that I do myself! But then, supposedly it's in human nature to feel annoyed with people who remind you of things you don't like in yourself. For me, it's actually quite enlightening to be around other Aspies - because in my reactions to them, I get more insight into how people react to me, and why certain things annoy people.

It should be the opposite. It should be the NTs who should not be allowed to be annoyed with the flaws of other people. They are the ones who are supposedly in the right both socially and emotionally and if that were so then they need to get a grip on life and stop on getting on other people for the little things...especially people like us who cant help being who we are.

I don't see it as wrong to feel annoyed, my aspie/autie friends make me tear my hair out sometimes (figuratively speaking), I don't let it get to me though because I probably annoy them too.

Of course not. Why, you're not allowed to be annoyed with them simply because they're not NTs? Come on--would you like it if somebody thought of you that way, like they weren't allowed to be annoyed just because of your diagnosis? No. You'd want to be told, so you could stop being annoying; or at least ignored, so you wouldn't have to spend time with people who found you annoying. People are not required to like us; they are just required to treat us as equals and with respect. That's all. If someone is annoyed by my presence, I'd rather they stayed out of it, so neither of us would be uncomfortable.

I think the rule there is pretty much the same for everyone:

Love/consider others in the same ways we love/consider ourselves.

My wife does some things that can annoy me greatly where the same kinds of things from me do not seem to bother her at all. I have no more right to be annoyed than she, and each of us is expected to be accepting. So, I do my best to say nothing about most of the noises that come from her being alive and she does her best to just ignore it when I pass gas.

I live my life in a similar way. I cut slack to others and hope that others will cut slack to me. We all do things that are annoying to somebody. Others do things that are annoying to us. If you just let it go, then hopefully they will return the favor.

I personally find it abhorrent that someone would be annoyed with the quirk of a person with a disability. Walk in their shoes for a few minutes. It's quite humbling.

I don't know. There are certain things that annoy me. I have gotten annoyed with other aspies and other people of all kinds. Even other aspies have gotten annoyed with me due to my traits.

We'd think we accept each others traits but wrong. I have even met a few aspies who told me they couldn't stand being around other aspies because they were all annoying so they never wanted to be around them again.
