I wanted to be a special education teacher, and, later, a psychologist.
It took me a few years to realize how awfully suited I'd be for either, both in terms of soft skills and in general interest. I've always been interested in the 'what and why' of the aberrant human brain, but I've never been interested in the 'how' of fixing it.
______________
When I was 12 I worked at a k-2 special education class for one summer. Volunteer
Five days a week. Four hours a day. Six weeks
Besides being able to claim the work experience on resumes, that job had little positive effect
Teacher and teacher aides had the nerve to keep telling me off
It was not worth the cost benefit analysis.
And I did not go back.
Even when I was 30 and a friend leer pressured me into volunteering at a day care, I was extremely reluctant.
And that was just once a month for four hours. Ten month
Unless someone uses extortion or bribery,,, I ain't going near no special education class ever again
