I think you also have the same experience.
Makes me wonder... I don't stutter, and never have; but I learned how to use pitch and inflection (you know, how loudly you say something, what you emphasize, and whether your voice goes up and down) by thinking of the words as a musical phrase. That mental trick let me follow the patterns and use what is apparently a quite typical-sounding, though rather formal, manner of speech. I don't know if something similar might improve your fluency; it would probably only work if you are instinctively drawn to music, at least more so to music than to spoken words.
