My primary GIS lappie is a Thinkpad X220t - t meaning tablet with a stylus digitizer touchscreen. Go for an X240t & that'll include Intel GMA4000 gfx, should be adequate & at most half the price of a shiny new desktop. My new laptop is a UK model Dell XPS 13 & it's incredible but I still prefer the Thinkpad's reliability & feel.

I don't understand the point of assigning kids more work to do at home. When my mum homeschooled me, I only did extra work if I had a bit to finish up.

3 days until my uni field trip and I suddenly feel like Donnie Darko nearing the end of the world; in serious panic mode, now. Mind racing and can't sit still for long. I think I've packed and re-packed, checked and re-checked my itinerary 100 times already, but the prospect of staying in a place I've never been before surrounded by complete strangers for days is seriously worrisome. My psychologist was also meant to mail me a summary of sorts that I was then meant to forward to the people in charge of the place all us students are staying in, just so they understand certain requirements I have, but she's yet to do it. Inefficiency abounds, per bloody usual.

I think it's dumb too. But my teacher used to tell me that learning is 24/7 and that they don't want you to forget overnight.

I never got enough sleep when I had all that homework. I had to go to sleep and not do it all and turned everything in late.

Why would you forget overnight?!?!?!?!?! Besides, you learn every day even outside of school.

I can honestly say that I've learned whole libraries of information just by reading books and experiencing things. I didn't learn much at all in high school, in fact, since I was way ahead of everyone else.

SentientPotato, why do you feel like you're sitting in a corner?

In the sense that I mostly find myself just watching the different conversations without really contributing to them, so in feeling it mirrors actual real life conversing where people are scattered about having conversations, and I'm generally in my own little space close enough to listen in on some of them, but not so close that people will start getting me to contribute. That's not to say I don't contribute, but unless it's within a community where people know me and I know them, it's way out of my comfort zone. It's basically a cycle where I can't become an established member and contributing is hard unless I'm an established member, something made even harder when those few times I do step forward are met with silence. Idk maybe I'm just being ridiculous; heck just this comment alone took waaaay more time than it really should've.
