The History Channel has a reality show that follows around pickers, Mike Wolfe and Frank Fitz, as they root through various piles of junk in various locations (most of them way outside their territory). There's been internet speculation about whether or not Mike is gay, and my gaydar definitely goes off watching him, but more than that, are these guys AS?
They interact with people, their business is very social, but the way they attack is systematic and simple. There is not a lot of give and take to their conversations. A lot of it is self-absorbed and with the purpose of getting to the goal of buying pieces that they want to resell for more money. I pick as a hobby and make a little money here and there but when I am communicating with people, it's the same way. I systematically try to make the connection and then I move on to the next step. It works, people warm to me and I can get what I want. I see it more in Frank than I do in Mike, but Mike definitely has some serious ADHD going on. They are also over-the-top when they're excited about something or trying to communicate a feeling/thought for the narrative of the show.
If you watch this show, really watch the guys' behavior. There's some symptomatic behavior going on here. What do you think?
