Suggestions for grant?

Hi! Our county enables us to access a yearly grant to help us support our kids in the spectrum (with things related to their disability). We can cover: parent or child education related to autism (including books), assistive technology, items related to sensory processing disorder...

My son (who is 7) mainly needs support in the social realm and does a lot of sensory-seeking.

Any parents (or people who have once been a seven year old with autism) have suggestions for things/classes/computer programs/books that have been the most helpful for your child/you?

How about this: his room as a haven to escape to for self-calming?

What does he most enjoy doing?

Items that are available that aren't labeled "for autism" but are wonderful.

How about a hammock swing?

Bean bag chair?

Lots of fun sensory items can be found at the dollar store. Play dough, textured balls, good smelling bubbles to blow...

Swim lessons were suggested for my daughter. It encourages both sides of the brain to work together.

How about items that support his special interests?

When I was 7, I'd outgrown traditional rocking horses, but would have loved to have a larger sized one.

I have ordered some stuff from a company called Fun and Function though my son is younger than yours so the specific items I bought probably wouldn't be appropriate for you. Also, you may be able to find the same type of things they sell cheaper elsewhere but looking through their website has given me some good ideas - funandfunction.com
