Hi all

I bought this book called "Teaching conversation to children with Autism, scripts and script fading".

I want to start this process of teaching written scripts to my child who is 5. I have never done anything like this before and don't really understand the correct process.

Has anyone read the book or carried out this process with their child? I would really like some help with this, please can someone guide me on how to start?

Thanks all

Hi tv, I haven't read the book, but wondering how verbal is your child?

Hi

He can talk in sentences, but trouble is he doesn't initiate conversation or anything. He has never spoken a full paragraph, he's somewhere in the middle, he needs that push to get his conversation going and for him to spontaneously speak. Any ideas?

Sorry my son doesn't talk at all in fact I sometimes dream that he does but thats about it. But what I would say is with all the things we do like ABA and PECS and so-on I do feel intimidated and at sea somewhat, but I find the best thing is to just give it a go even if I'm not confident. Then at least I have something to start from even if it didn't work that time.

My brother who is 14, only speaks to select individuals. And its usually when someone peaks his interest, especially topics close to his special interest. Other than that he spends most of his time with his homework or legos. But doesn't exactly speak directly to people.
