Hi all
This is just out of curiosity to check whether you see this image as rotating clockwise or counterclockwiseImage

I'm also wondering whether the responder has an ASD/aspie, or is NT

Comments are very welcome

depends on my viewing angle and the position of my eyes, odd i have also noticed that the "conditions" change depending on when i see that particular picture.

**edit** diagnosed aspie

Lace-Bane has HFA, but that's close enough ;). Maybe it's his apple monitor showing too much detail as usual, but he can see the detail on the rotating figure and can't see how it could possibly be moving counter clockwise.

If the figure wasn't pivoting and it was a pitch black silhouette then it would probably be possible to be able to see both views. With the movement of the figure though it shows detail that makes the idea that it's moving counter clockwise impossible to Lace-Bane's eyes :|

I see her going both ways. Which way she's going depends on whether I look at the picture starting from the top or the bottom.

I'm a suspected Aspie with multiple other diagnoses.

I can "switch" my perception at will.

I can do this for almost any optical illusion depending on one's identification of figure and ground, such as:

and

I'm interested, I thought everyone could "switch" their perceptions at will.

I think alot, if not most people can do this. I can do it too, and I know people who can.

I could be wrong, but I believe the OP is wondering which one we see first and default to when we don't concentrate.

In that instance, I see her spinning clockwise.

Lace-Bane can too, but he can't see that the above image is an optical illusion. If you study the movement of the legs and watch for the detail, there appears to be no way it can be moving in the opposite direction of clockwise. Like if you look at the feet, watch for the movement of the arch of the foot and then where it becomes the blade of the foot while also noticing the direction the toes are pointing. Due to the pivot of the figure, it doesn't give an optical illusion effect if you study it harder.

If it really is an optical illusion then Lace-Bane needs details on how it could be moving counter clockwise because he just cannot see it :?

It is an optical-illusion. When you se her going counter-clockwise, the same observations you mentioned define that as well.

I've more commonly seen this to determine if someone is right brained or left brained, though. Not to see if someone has a disorder.

The woman is going clockwise and then she switches when I stare at it long enough. Then she goes back to going clockwise again. And I am an aspie.

I can also switch perception too with optical illusions but the woman one was tough because I could only see one and then I saw the cartoon face in the front.

I can close my eyes for a second and "think" (envision) clockwise and then see that (at least until I blink), but counterclockwise is definitely my default perception.

The static optical illusions I can switch back and forth easily but that dancer... persistently counter clockwise no matter how I look at it. And I've attempted that illusion for years.

Interestingly enough I'm a lefty- so, supposedly, right brained...

Actually after reading the article, Lace-Bane still can't see it :|.

As with the description I gave of the blade and arch... the arch is larger when the raised foot reaches the left side of the screen. Which with the pivot would indicate that the foot is moving clock wise. Lace-Bane thinks the art is flawed :P. If the image was done in a correct manner and the details didn't give the motion away, Lace-Bane could see it... the details just negate the possibility in his mind :?

I was supposed to be left handed, but had a nasty kindergarten teacher and now use my right hand more.

OOH! Lace-Bane just saw it :D. Although the details don't add up, when not paying attention it went counter clockwise :D
