Shut up, Birthers!
True - I just find it ironic that while Obama was born in a formerly-independent country (Hawaii), that became a state, Panama is actually a US-Created foreign country...
I'm sure someone, somewhere, had to verify that Obama was born in the US.
Being born in the Continental U.S. is NOT a requirement for being POTUS.

Well, if you want to get technical about it, there were quite a few Presidents who weren't born in CONUS. After all, it was a requirement that candidates be at least 35 years of age, which means that until 1806, it would not have been possible to field a candidate born in this country.

After the many statements claiming that the first birth certificate was the only one, that there was no long form, I think the long form recently released is bunk.
I also consider the fact that it really isn't difficult for someone in government to create the birth certificate and for it to pass all legitimacy tests. Federal marshals do this all the time for witnesses in witness protection.
Basically, I don't think this new birth certificate is any more legitimate than the last one.
On the other hand, I understand that the term "natural born citizen" was never defined in the Constitution, and according to US citizenship laws a person who is born to a US citizen is automatically a US citizen at birth. Obama's mother was a US citizen and thus he is a US citizen regardless of place of birth.

As I understand your post, you accept that President Obama is indeed a natural born citizen. So, as most (if not all) birthers claim he is not really an American, why are you questioning the birth certificate's legitimacy? I'm sorry, but it's just that doubts abut the certificate always seem to have an ulterior motive behind them.

They never claimed a long form version didn't exist, but what he originally gave out is what hawaii gives their residents. When you APP for a job, thats what you use. It IS the birth certificate.
The long form is something kept on file, thats not allowed to be released. You personally don't even get a copy, it's just kept on file. He had to pull strings to get it released, and only did so because the whole thing was getting ridiculous.
Frankly asking for the long form would be like if I Carded you for something, you showed me your ID, and I demanded a print out of your DMV file as well.

Where do you get the 1806 date?
If you consider the birth of the USA to be the declaration of Independence then the theoretical earliest date for a strictly legal 35 year old candidate born in the USA would be 1811.
If you date the birth of the nation to the signing of the Constitution ( which was 1789 I believe) then that year would be 1824.
Now hold on a minute. Just because the state of Hawaii has produced a so-called long-form "birth certificate" of a person born in Hawaii, of the same alleged name, birthdate, and alleged parents who match the description of the parents of the current President of the USA, doesn't necessarily mean that this is our President's actual birth certificate.
He might have been born in Mexico, and then assumed the identity of a Hawaiian-born Barack Hussein Obama. This happens all the time.
He might actually be either a space alien or an angel who took over the body of someone born in Hawaii. Most people believed in angels through the 19th century. During the 20th century, it was more common for people to believe in space aliens, although Mormons still buy into stories about angels.
