Thanks, thats what I was going for, as during the research people seemed to have favourite videos they enjoyed to view for lights, and I wanted to create a video like that and I love watching it as it is mesmerizing. The autism community seem to be liking the video aswell, spread the word / video :)

The very few times I've been into a club, I end up staring at the lights...

It is interesting how strong the reaction is. For me, I find the effect and the continuous fast changes far too stimulating and I do not like the way it makes me feel (except one short sequence where the lights switch on exactly on the beats). But if you did the same thing with fire, sunset, light reflected in water and so on, then it would probably be equally intense and I would probably love it. It is a bit like S&M, that the intensity has to impact the right emotions, and even painful stimulation could be pleasurable if it hits the right neural circuits.

Great film.

Yes it is, and I'm gagging for something a bit more hardcore. :P Not trying to be critical, what you've got here is great, I just sense it could be taken further.

I once made a prism and photographed it - I don't mean a photo of a spectrum projected onto a piece of white paper - that wasn't intense enough, so I removed the camera lens and projected the spectrum directly onto the back of the camera where the film was (yes it was a film camera). Result wasn't quite what I expected...rather than a smooth transition from red to orange to yellow etc., I got a series of fairly wide bands of pure colour. :o I'd post a photo but I think you have to have external webspace to do that, don't you?

Hmm. Some lights are good. Others are the reason I wear grey tinted lenses, even when it's dark out. Do you guys have issues with strobes? My balance completely goes away when I'm around them. Crazy, crazy vertigo ensues.

Hi all

Ooo lights. I definitely have a thing about lights. (whats that bit from family guy).... 'theyre so tantalizing'

Thought the ridiculous amount of light-type swirly pattern things that ended up in a video i made a while back might be due to a similar fascination with all those twinkly shiny things.

strangely, although im overloaded by certain things, crazy lights and swirls actually are comforting. which strikes me as odd. the busier it is... the more.... hypnotic i guess.

dont mind the music... its some older stuff of mine.

oh, and i forgot to add... seeing as im basically a recluse (last 2 years or so really bad)... just thought id point out that (with the exception of me trying to film from a car window) the footage was all made in my house with the random stuff i had around.

the kitchen is a wonderful place to find things to film. (the lava lamp style stuff is a perspex dish, with... if i remember rightly... water, food colouring, coffee granuals, and... er... cooking oil. a lamp underneath and the camera above.

the molten magma stuff is same but me blowing on the liquid with a straw.

i highly recommend you break out the cameras and make some

love to see them!

R

That was actually rather interesting. I thought it was going to be stupid (what the heck is this guy doing making a video about lights?), but it wasn't.

I've been thinking about your video everyday since I first saw it, damn you Tom! The other video posted by Mystic scared me kind of, don't know why.

Yes, interesting. There are plenty of wonderful angles and moments in the video. But too soft.

More intensity. More chaos.

Question for the light lovers....my daughter is sensitive to bright lights, must have curtains drawn, sunglasses on and will meltdown if a camera flashes too bright. However, she LOVES fireworks and little toys with spinning lights. These seem contradictory to me.

Does anyone else experience both a sensitivity to light as well as a draw or attraction to them? Can it be explained?
