I CANNOT WALK in flip-flops. How do people do it?
There are two options:
1. Make my toes grip onto that thing so it doesn't slide out. This results in my toes having to bunch up like they're deformed, and having to shuffle along in a painful, awkward way.
When this option starts to get unbearably painful, I switch to option two:
2. Just walk normally. Result: flip-flops shoot off feet and go flying forwards. This is also painful, and I get so annoyed when they slide off that I end up having to switch back to option two.
Summary: maybe I just have unusual feet, but flip-flops are (from my point of view, at least) a stupid, painful, crippling, impractical invention. I'd far rather wear sandals that incorporate a heel strap, to prevent the sole sliding forwards and the whole thing flying off my foot. Shoes ought to be comfortable, so much so that you ought to be able to walk normally and be able to forget that you're wearing them. If they're the sort of shoes that require concentration to be worn successfully, you can forget it. They're not for me.
Back on topic: in the house, I wear sandals instead of slippers. When it's cold, I wear them with socks, yes.
