There are a very few people who post on this 'site that I don't care for, and so I don't post on threads they initiate, and I don't respond to their posts. Done deal.

Fnord, , after typing the OP I noticed "Hell, I am a programmer, I don't need that button".

So, indeed I figured a way. I spent the hour following the making of that post making use of the firefox Greasemonkey plugin. It was fun to re-learn javascript.

Code:
SNIP

It needs the greasemonkey firefox addon. For the yiggles, you can change the innerHTML = "..."; line to make their posts say whatever you want.

When I find more time I think I can make it even hide the contents of quote tags that are marked to come from ignored guys. But I need some sleep first.

This doesn't seem to work and I need to ignore someone who seems to think poorly of me. What are the alternatives?

Go away, and think about if it was really worth the bother. Unless you've found a solution.
You can get worked up if your mind niggles at you so the solution is the cure.

In essence of the sites technicalities, I have got around many obstacles, and hopefully the New Firefox 4.0 edition is helping. I've also downloaded a new Flashplayer so this is now working with the site.

Oh sorry I just now saw this (A month and a half later) but yeah that situation resolved itself, its a long story but I pissed off some people off site and it turned out many of them were members here. They have left me alone so thats all I can ask for but I will say for any stilling reading my post, I only made the first three post under my name on your site. The rest was a troll and while I would have loved to join in, I didn't.

There still isn't an ignore button or function.
Can we get one soon?

I'm just thinking, ignore who you can but defend yourself when possible, even when surrounded by poor manners and misconduct.

If this site wants people to start making foes, then it seems easier for someone moderating to pick out who they think someone doesn't get on with, and isolate them at random.. it's a stupid surplus to the ridiciculous to assume that an autisitc community can't get along.

I wish we did have an ignore button as there is one member who is getting on my nerves.

I was wondering why I could still see posts from those I have on my foes list. Good thing I read through these comments. Oh well, I still like to keep a tab on who I know I don't/wouldn't get along with for future reference.

This post is in response to the request by B19 in this thread
for a re-evaluation of the PHPBBUserHide userscript method of hiding users posts.

The script has now been updated to enable it to work with the current website software.
Below are installation instructions and examples of how the script functions
on a per page basis.

View topics page:

On this page you can hide other users posts and quotes.

Clicking on the green <X> above the users name will add the user to your filter list.

Image

The page will automatically be refreshed and the posts and quotes will be hidden as
in the following Images:

Image

Image

To remove the user from your filter list, click on “display post” then click on the red <X>

Image

Posting page:

The script will hide posts and quotes on this page as long as the user is not in the Foes list.
If the user is in the Foes list, the forum software will hide posts, but leave the quotes, which
the script will then hide.

Extra Functionality:

Some extra functionality has been added to the script.
These functions are listed below, they are enabled by default, but can be turned off in the menu.

Forum Page:

Image

Clicking on the green <X> will hide the forum and hide all new posts to that forum
from the new posts search results.

Image

Clicking on the “display forum” link will enable you to enter the forum, or remove it
from the filter list by clicking on the red <X>.

Image

Viewforum Page:

Image

Clicking on the green <X> will hide the thread and hide all new posts to that thread
from the new posts search results.

Image

Clicking on the “display thread” link will enable you to enter the thread, or remove it
from the filter list by clicking on the red <X>.

Image

New Post Search Results:

Image

Clicking on the green <X> will remove the thread from the search results and hide it in the forum.
Clicking on the green <0> will remove all threads by that user from the search results.
Clicking on the filter link at the top left of the results will remove the filter and display all unfiltered
search results as in the image below.

Image

Clicking on the red <X> or <0> here will remove the item from your filter list.
Refreshing the page will re-apply the filter.

Bookmarks:

Image
A “View Your Bookmarks” link has been added to give quick and easy access to the
“User Control Panel “ page where the bookmark are stored.

Menu:

By clicking on the icon of the userscript manager you are able to:

Enable/disable the userscript manager.
Enable/disable the Wrongplanet_user_hide script.

You also have access to the following Wrongplanet_user_hide script functions:

1) Change colour scheme allows you to change the colours of the boxes.

Image

2) Clear the filter list.
3) Disable the extra functionality.

Tampermonkey menu:
Image

Violentmonkey Menu:
Image

Compatibility:

The script has been tested with Tampermonkey and Violentmonkey
(unless otherwise stated) on the following browsers:
Chrome
Firefox
Slimjet
Opera
Vivaldi
Seamonkey (Using the ported version of Greasemonkey userscript manager.)

Falkon & Qupzilla (using their own built-in Greasemonkey userscript manager.
The script works but the menu is not available.)

Installation:

The script needs a userscript manager add-on to be installed into the browser.
I recommend Tampermonkey but Violentmonkey is an equally good
open source variant.

Both Tampermonkey,Violentmonkey and the script can be found at the link below.
Install the userscript manager of your choice first, then the Wrongplanet_user_hide script.

Once again I am impressed by your expertise and knowledge in these kinds of matters, and thank you Soliloquist for providing this pathway to resolve the longstanding issue re foe management.
