That greasemonkey thing works. I started using it a while ago. Just don't ask me how to install it because I already forgot.

So I just wanted to point out some things for those who find this script useful or wish to install it.

FIrst of all, the download link. The one provided in the OP doesn't really work, it is redirecting to a google drive webpage. The file IS there though, you just need to use the following link instead: https://googledrive.com/host/0B8B-NkXY5 ... de.user.js

Second, it works in Chrome too. It's rather simple, to make it work on WP, first open the .js file with a text editor then replace the very first part with the following code:

Code:
// ==UserScript==
// @name         phpBB User Hide
// @include      http://www.wrongplanet.net/post*
// @include      http://www.wrongplanet.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic*
// @include      /viewtopic.php*
// @description  Hides/unhides a user's posts
// @exclude
// ==/UserScript==

(Perhaps there is a way to do it on the browser, like firefox, but this one works too)
You can see all I did was add two lines, the whole block was provided for context. When that edit is done, open the Chrome Menu/Settings then Extensions, and drag the .js file into the Chrome window. It will ask whether you want to install the script,, say yes and it is done.

It doesn't seem to be blocking quoted content.

Most ignore functions don't block quoted content.

Googling "greasemonkey in opera" seems to indicate that yes, "some" Greasemonkey scripts can be loaded directly in Opera.

I have saved the script to the file as the instructions say, then it tells me to go the the menu and turn stuff on - what it tells me to do does not exist!! !

this is about the billionth thing I have had go wrong on computers

I cannot find how to tell it what directory to look in for the .user.js file, I have it in two places now it is still not loading it

Maybe this particular script isn't one of the "some" that can be loaded directly into Opera...

t is more fun to ignore the old fashioned way, even though I suspect I am the one being ignored a lot of the time.

1. Click on My Account at the top right of the screen.
2. Under "Options" on the left side of the screen, click Friends and Foes.
3. Click "Manage Foes," which will appear just underneath Friends and Foes.
4. Type the usernames of the people you want to ignore in the box, 1 name per line.
5. Click Submit.

You can still see their posts, though. Or at least I can.

I noticed that too, but I thought it was only the old posts that were still visible. I haven't seen new posts from the people I've blocked since I blocked them, and at least one of them posts regularly.
