I actually enjoyed their stores. The staff was always friendly and helpful when I sought their assistance. Besides Borders there's no other book store that I know of. I don't know where I'll be able to pick up a paperback if Walmart or Target doesn't have it.

Even if there will be some new stores as cozy as Borders, I would still be missing Borders. I am nastalgic about the past. I wish that things from the past could remain so that I could go back to them. Especially now that I am doing a temporary work in India and really miss USA. I wish I could go back to the places I used to be in USA and find them the same way as I seen them before.

As I suspected, most people never bought anything there but coffee.

Not really. I used to go to the local one all the time to buy books. They always had great prices. Same for a lot of other people in my area. There was a kind of mock funeral for it when it closed because of it. And it was a much better hangout IMO than walmart. As for buying books, I refuse to buy from amazon. When you work for them you know just how sh***y the product is treated among many other things. Bought the new song of Ice and Fire book though from walmart for borders prices (Originally 35 dollars but release sale was at 25 dollars.)

Yes typing in the dark so I always fail to remember where certain symbols are :/

Yep. I saw that.
Sad, but I prefer B&N anyways. I can't remember the last time I went to a Borders.

So sad. Unfortunately, my parents never take me to any bookstore often, but I love Borders and Barnes and Nobles, even if it's just to walk around and look at all the books. Fortunately, Barnes and Nobles is still open.

There are at least three used booksellers within 20 miles of my house. I haven't needed to visit Borders or B&N for over ten years, and I'm surpised they lasted this long.

I need just a few more Alderac manuals to complete my set.

I used to buy from them all the time before I got a Kindle.

Man that's a real bummer. My brother likes to read, and if they close, well I guess he still has eBay.

I can't even remember the last time I bought a book in a brick and mortar store. I still visit them, but if I find something I want, I'll go home and order it on Amazon. The discounts are just too big for someone who's unemployed and doesn't see spending money very often.

I worked at Borders in the UK for 8 years. Was very sad when they closed down here.

All the Borders stores shut in the UK AGES ago. I was so sad because they had much better prices than Waterstones (the main competetor in the UK). You could find unusual or rarer books there as well. Oh well, I've got Heffers in Cambridge so I shouldn't complain!
