I'm realizing that I have no professional references to offer employers when I apply. I've been asked for them on the last two interviews. I gave them some old contacts from a job 8 years ago because those people seemed to "get" me. At my current place.. ugh. It's a struggle. I am quite certain I would get a negative review (perhaps worded nicely) by everyone in the office.

This is so frustrating and upsetting. Why can't I be normal and have normal work relationships????

Get a letter of reference from one of the old contacts. Interviewers understand that no one can risk trying to get one from their current employer unless they are being released from their firm in a downsize.
