He was wearing a shirt that said "You're ugly, I'm busy."

Proof most men will not just date any woman.

I'm going to take a guess that he was no prize himself.

Through experience and observation, I'm darned sure that this is true.

Off topic; but every time I hear the phrase; You're ugly; I think of my old friend L. My 1st job out of college was in swimwear design. L was the receptionist, fit model and (sometimes) showroom model. She was gorgeous, with a soft, beautiful facial expression. But she had/has a very tough personallity. When we walked outdoors together, men would often hoot & holler out to her. She'd always flash around to them and YELL; You're ugly.

hmmm. this seems unlike you Chronos. Is it not more apt to say this one guy is a tool? At most one could say that there exists enough guys who profess this sentiment to sell a few t-shirts. But certainly not most men.

Perhaps you're simply making a point regarding over-generalizations for some our members prone to such broad sweepings?

Maybe it's a ploy to cast himself as a high-value person. IOW, "I'm so good that I don't have to choose just anybody. I have choices/options, which means that I'm hot stuff."

Sort of like, "beggars can't be choosers -- and I get to choose."

I dunno about y'all, but I know I wouldnt just date anybody. Ugly has nothing to do with it, but I'm not going to go out with someone I have no interest in. Isn't that the point of dating anyway? Getting to know people you're interested in getting to know? Surely I shouldn't date whoever just to uphold the false notion that being open requires me to have no preferences?

There's nothing wrong with that, but I wonder about someone who needs to wear that shirt . I wouldn't go out with a guy like that. He obviously has no class, and by class I do not mean money.

Maybe the guy is wearing the shirt as a joke to make an ironic sarcastic statement like to make fun of the stereotype :?

And I've seen women wear shirts saying "I love (heart) nerds," yet still date the alpha jocks/bad boys.
